Question Daily Calories

Just wondering how many calories does one person usually burn daily on average, not including active lifestyles or extra exercise. I'm just trying to get a range for myself and how much I need to be doing here. Can anybody help me???

I think that it depends on how much you weigh, I burn about 3200 calories each day just by being alive. Check out fitday.com. The website tells you how many calories you burn each day, and if you enter any activities it adds them. It also had a place for you to enter the food that you eat, that way you can tell if you are burning the calories that you consume.
Hope it helps you as much as it helped me!!

I signed up at Fitday to check it out and entered today's information (taking into account what I plan to have for dinner). It shows I consumed less than 1600 calories and burned almost 2600.

Congratulations! Also remember that every pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories. So, in order to lose one pound you need to burn 3500 more calories that you consume.

caloriesperhour.com is also a great calculator for calories burned or consumed.

Jennifer,

Your Metabolic Resting Rate (that is what you spend without exercise) is your LEAN body weight in pounds multiplied by 14. The result is in calories. Your lean body is what spends energy, your fat doesn't spend calories.

Your lean body weight is calculated measuring your body fat percentage.

Samantha, I'm sorry to tell you, but is almost impossible for you to spend 3200 calories daily.

From a book I have

This is a general guide for women 30 -59 (younger you need more cals and older a bit less) This is the basic cals you burn before any movement at all! So it is a good guide for weightloss ( you shouldn't go under the amount for your weight ever as you will lose muscle which is bad).

A stone = 14 pounds BTW

20 stone 1880 calories (280 pounds)
19 stone 1825 calories
18 stone 1774 calories
17 stone 1723 calories
16 stone 1671 calories
15 stone 1639 calories (210 pounds)
14 stone 1586 calories
13 stone 1532 calories
12 stone 1480 calories
11 stone 1427 calories
10 stone 1374 calories (140 pounds)

Veggie,

Only lean body mass burns calories, mainly muscles. Probably your book is old.
