Smile Another Newbie!!! Thats me!

Hi Everyone! Ive been trying to get on here all afternoon and write a post! Thanks host! Im new to the whole site. I found it about a month ago, read a little and then today woke up and realized, omg, what was that website! Came here to become a regular! ::claps::

It all started the other day when my friend came to me and told me that i have been talking about losing weight for the past year. Wow. Thats right, talking about it, even bought a gym membership last year this month, and well, this year, still havent lost a pound. I know its sad. Sorta depressing. All that money to get rid of stress and not fat. lol. Anywho.

A little about myself i guess. Im 20, and well, i wait tables in the afternoons or mornings whichever im scheduled. Im in the process of joining the air national guard but my recruiter told me that im 30 pounds over weight and i cant join until i lose it. Yeah, big eye opener. For my height i have to be under 155. I can be 154, just as long as im under the maximum. So yesterday my manager at work tells me, you have no motivation, blah blah blah, bets me $100 that i cant lose 25 pounds in 3 months. Well the 3 months begins when i decide to shake on it.

I hate being doubted. So sunday, im definatly going to shake on it. So then, ill have motivation, plus ill get 100 buckaroos, and get to join the national guard like i wanted. Woohoo! Wow this is a mouthfull.

But anywho. Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Im not sure what some good forums to read everyday are but ill be searching. Im on a 14-week get in shape guide given by the military. So every week i do a little bit more.
This week, its 45 minutes cardio. intervals of 5 minute walking, 3 minute jogging. I did it too! Equals 3 miles, 327.5 calories.

when you get that feeling of wanting to stop, let that be inspiration to keep going. Mini Goal Lose 10 pounds by 5/10/04. Weighin every monday
Goodluck and happy dieting.

Welcome, CutieCourt!!! What kind of plan does the military put you on? Sounds interesting, I bet it is really intense. You already sound like you are on your way. This is a great place for support. Maybe you can check out the Spring challenge? Good luck with everything!

Default Good Morning!

Hi CutieCourt,
You certainly have a good goal to try for. I'm sure you'll do just fine because you sound determined.

The Get In Shape Guide by the military sounds interesting. Could you share it with us? It might be what some of us want or need to get moving.
Do they also have an eating program?

I have a question for everyone also.
A friend told me that stretching exercises done on a regular basis curbs the appetite. Anybody know if there is any truth to this, and if so, where would a person find which exercises to do? I'm rather intrigued by this because I have a hard time doing regular exercises some times. If this is true, it would be awesome.

Have a great day.

Hey CutieCourt! Congrats on the loss so far! I'm doing an officer program for the Marine Corps and I know EXACTLY where you're coming from. A few summers ago, my recruiter didn't bother to weigh me before I went to the processing center for my physical. I was 10 pounds over and was told that I couldn't do training that summer. What a downer - but there's no motivation like having a bunch of stodgy old gunny sgts standing in a circle around you, looking you up and down, and saying "I just don't see where she's keeping those 10 extra pounds!" How embarrassing! Anywho - I'm fairly new to 3fc's, too. I've lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks, YAY! So welcome, and check out the 20 Somethings Group - we have fun Challenges and whatnot.
