Default Need a buddy with similar stats and goals

Hi, I am looking for a weight loss buddy to help me stay motivated. Someone to share the ups and downs with and figure out what works and what doesn't on our journey to slimness. I am 38 years old, single (divorced for many years), and I have one son who is 14. I became disabled 5 years ago as the result of a car accident and gained all this weight after successfully loosing a lot the year before my accident.

My current weight is 229.5 and I am 5'3". I started this journey at 265 pounds two years ago and it has been a long slow road. I lost down to 211 last October but have gained some back. I was doing Weight Watchers but I had to travel so far to the meetings it just got to be too much. Plus, after two years of counting points, I just got plain tired of it. I have tried Atkins and lost 5 pounds in a week but found it to restrictive. I lost a lot of weight 8 years ago by just exercising and changing my way of eating. More salads, fruits and smaller portions. I want to go back to that. It worked better than anything else.

Drop me a line if you are interested in being my buddy.

Hi Moonwitch. How are you doing? I am Madcow. I am 30 years old and I live in England. I weigh 239 and am married. I have a son who is 2 on the 31st of this month. He is definatley my inspiration for loosing weight. I too am trying the sensible approach of sensible food, exercise and moderation. I think it is the only thing that works. I am happy to be your buddy. Write soon

Hi Moon and Madcow! It sounds like our goals are all similar so feel free to add me to your buddy list if you wish I started out the beginning of last week at my highest weight 260. I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 250 (260 wt was with clothes, this morning was without clothes) I plan on weighing in every Sat morning before showering to get a consistent reading.
I am also doing the healthier eating and more excercise. I have not worked the exercise in yet, will try to incorporate that next week. This week I wanted to get the food down pat. Smaller portions and watching what I eat. If we eat out, I choose Wendy's and get a chili and a plain baked potato. Filling, cheap, and healthier than my normal fare!
Will write more later....keep it up, we are all in this together!

Moon ~~~ Where is Beauty, Ky? I'm in London, Ky... Laurel county.

Hi Jolee & Madcow!!!

Here's a little about me. I'm 30, married with two kids... 6 & 5. Over the past year, I lost 20 lbs... really have no idea how but it's gone & that's what matters. At the beginning of January, I started Atkins & did real well the first couple of weeks... lost 7 lbs. But realized that it wasn't something I could do realistically for the rest of my life. Tomorrow (Monday) I'm joining Weight Watchers. Maybe if I learn portion control, then I'll be alright & will drop the weight. I have another 122 lbs to lose. I realize I have more to lose than the rest of you.

Default Welcome Stephanie!

A big welcome to you Stephanie! I have 2 girls, 6 and 3 years of age, and they are truly my biggest motivation I want to be the mommy that runs and plays all the time at the park instead of only every once and awhile. i also want to be a positive role model for the both of them as they are growing up.
congratulations on taking the step of joining weight watchers! I have never joined myself but I have heard many good things regarding WW and their point system. I am still doing my own thing with watching what I eat and how much I eat of it. That was my biggest problem, eating too much of whatever was around. Now I eat 5 small meals a day, drink plenty of water and try to exercise everyday. I have lost 22 pounds so far, and hope that the loss continues as it is. (However I will not get discouraged if it does, just means I will need to work harder !)
Here's to all of us for taking the first step in 2004 for a better us!
