Default Hi all!

This ain't my first rodeo -

I have been here before, but the last time I logged on was in 2015. Since then I have probably lost 30 pounds & gained 40. That seems to be the way it goes. Like anyone would, I feel my best when I'm at a controlled weight--unfortunately, for me, I tend to eat my feelings, so when life seems a little out of control I head to the junk food. Not a healthy pattern, but not one I've figured out how to break. As a result I tend to have what I call my kale years & my cake years. Those are just my pet names for the years I eat healthy & smart (lots more than kale!), & the years that sugar is my source of comfort. Ugh. I'm definitely coming off of a cake year. 5 days into smart choices & I already can feel the fog lifting. I hope I'm at the start of a kale year. I'm back among 3FC to be a part of a community that gets this-so that I don't prattle the ears off of my family & friends about things that I'm sure they find boring, and to read your stories as well & be reminded that I'm not alone. I may or may not be on here much but when I am here I will cheer you on! This is one of those "nice to see you again, 3FC, I only wish it were under better circumstances" things. Haha! See you on the forums!

Hi, mamajones. Welcome back. I understand the kale years and the cake years all too well.

I like the idea of kale years ... not so much cake years, ha ha. I can relate. Welcome back!

Maybe so ERD - I first came here in 07 & I think I actually spent quite a lot of time on the boards then. In 15 I don't remember how much I was around. I do remember trying to lose weight for the umpteenth time, ugh. And here I go again.

Thanks to everyone for the hello!

Default Hello from a brand new user

Hello mamajones, and thanks for the great post! Sometimes, pardon my language, but **** just happens, and when it does in my life, well things get all off-kilter!

I am brand new on this forum, and am really seeking some support and encouragement! I am 51, grandma of 2, and suddenly after some unforeseen life changes, find myself 50 pounds overweight. I have never been here before, and for the first time in my life, even through two pregnancies, have seen 200 on the scale. It's been a rough last few months as I am trying to get it off - WW, Adkins briefly, hard-core exercise, 5 small meals a day - all those things that worked for me when I was younger definitely do NOT work for me now. I found the 5 bite plan, and even though I know it's extreme, I am going to try it for 2 weeks - I need to see some fast results. I am well aware of the risk of re-gain, of the nutritional issues, but at this point I need that scale to move.

If anyone out there has some thoughts on how to succeed on this I would love to read them. I am using Cliff bars instead of the snickers and adding some good protein in as well. I also drink kombucha daily and add in those calories, but do not count the drink as bites. Thank you for anyone out there who wants to respond!
