New here and 69 1/2 years old

  • Hello, I am new here, I am currently 69 1/2 and would like to lose 40-50 pounds if possible. I am only 4'8''. I recently moved from IL to NC and am still working at my job which I was able to bring with me since I work from home ever since the pandemic. I'm not able to work out much because of the arthritis in one knee and the osteoarthritis in the other knee. So walking up until a fall I had last year December was what I used to do. Now I have noticed my jeans are tight and I have gained 10 pounds in 8 months. I do have 2 small dogs that keep me busy. Looking for Help in weight loss. Anyone around the same age group?
  • Hi Shaney: I am almost 65 and have a lot to lose. I did weigh 150 about five years ago, but I then encountered health issues (brain tumor) that required surgery and radiation. The tumor is under control, but the process to get here resulted in a large weight gain due to medication I was on (corticosteroids) and my inability to exercise due to a condition call peripheral neuropathy, which was a side effect of the radiation treatment and means I don't properly feel my feet. My exercise is limited to walking, outside with my cane when the weather permits (I'm in Canada) and treadmill otherwise. Plus every hour or so I put on a song (oldies) and dance in my living room, where there are cabinets and tables to hold onto if necessary. My two cats think I'm weird but they're the only ones who see me dancing! So far so good on my weight loss journey. It is slow, but I'm in no rush. Happy to meet you!
