Default happy to be here

Hi, my name is William. im 48, single, archaeologist from Washington state. been a fat boy my whole life. biggest kid in school and all that. came home from fire camp in 2017 with BAD pneumonia. during my recovery i decided to stop nicotine and develop a more healthy lifestyle. started walking and hurt my knee. went to the doc and tipped the scales at 400lbs. im a big dude, 6'4" but that was a shocker. started PT and diet program in september 2019. since then ive been nicotine free and have lost 75 lbs. im proud but worry about gaining it back. i started talking to a counselor and am involved with OA. never dieted in my life and i would appreciate tips and tricks for sustained weightloss. im now 325 but looking for 270 or so. i havent had good success with web based communities but would love to meet some people here. i was keto but have had more success with calorie counting. reply and maybe we can share contact info. really struggling with depression lately, anxiety and just an overall sense of morose.
Anyway, thanks for reading and i look forward to further engagement.

Hi William, maintaining loss is a huge issue for me too. I am a boredom/anger/depressed/stress eater -- quarantine hasn't been easy but it is a kind of emotional bubble since you arent interacting as much with the world. I haven't had a situation that rocked my boat lately and I worry what will happen when the next emotional crisis hits me. Will I be reaching for ice cream? Having been close to where I wanted to be in the past (my intro tells it all) I know how easy it is to slip up and start regaining. I think creating and maintaining good habits and NOT taking those days off when you want to talk yourself out of thngs is the key. Congrats on your losses so far. Oddly enough, calore counting never worked for me, but my form of low carb (keto based but more veggies) is the thing that works for me. Glad to have some company - Jill
