I've got the postpartum, reflux, flabby belly blues.

  • I'm actually not totally new to these boards -- I used 3FC to lose weight in 2010. I couldn't remember my login so I'm starting fresh.

I had my second child last November. To lose weight, my mom and I decided to do weight watchers. I feel like a big loser (and not in a good way!) because I barely lost any weight at all on WW. It just made me more obsessive about it. I found tracking my food to be really annoying -- it's easier for me to just say "I'm not eating after 9PM" or "I'm only having one sweet a day" or "I'm not eating any fried foods." With WW, I felt like I could have absolutely anything -- but I'm starting to think I do much better and I feel more comfortable when I just stay away from certain foods.

I was recently diagnosed with really bad acid reflux. I have an inflamed esophagus and I'm supposed to avoid coffee, tea, chocolate, citrus, tomato-based foods, fried/greasy foods, and spicy foods. It's been a dramatic change for me because I love those foods, so I've been pretty depressed lately as I'm trying to figure out just what I CAN have. I've been prescribed a double-dose of omeprazole along with zantac, and got no relief. I'm also trying to reduce my sky-high stress levels - easier said than done with a 5 month old and a business!

Looking forward to meet you all and get started again. I'd especially love to hear from people with reflux!

    Highest (before giving birth): 200
    Current goal: 150
    Current weight: 173
  • Welcome back and food luck with the changes. Hopefully you connect with people who might know some great alternatives to your favourite foods that won't aggrivate the acid reflex. The greasy/fried foods are one of my vices to try and avoid so I feel for you!!!

Don't feel like a loser cause you didn't like WW. You are a winner for recognizong it wasn't what you wanted and trying something different! Best of luck, and congrats on your new baby
