Smile New Girl

Hi there! My name is Kim, I'm 26 and I have been on Ideal Protein for 16 days and lost 17 lbs. I'm psyched, but damn is this hard! This time of year I assume is particularly difficult, so I just have to buckle down.

I am also doing the program with my mother. She so far has lost 8 lbs in the same amount of days. Her last weigh in she had only lost one pound. She has been following the diet as strictly as I have so I'm sure it's disheartening to her. I have a had a hard time knowing what to say, without relishing in my own loss. Granted she is starting the program about 70 lbs lighter than I so I assure her that this is all normal. I wouldn't be able to do this without her!

I ran across this site when I was researching IP and it's a huge help! We have had two weigh-ins so far...we'll see what Thanksgiving brings!

Welcome Kim26,

This is an amazing site for support, motivation, and accountability.

As for you mom, I think that someone with less weight to lose will lose at a much slower rate. But also her age may be a factor. I'm 55 and just over 20 lbs. to lose. I am definitely not losing as fast as I used to when I was younger. I used to be able to eat as much as I wanted and as long as I exercised I didn't gain weight. Ha! Not now. The older I get, the less my body needs. So not only do I need to exercise, but I just have learn to eat less and choose healthy foods. Can't eat cookies every day, but that's okay. My cravings are diminishing the longer I avoid them!

Good luck on your new healthy lifestyle!
