Howdy.

I've been dieting on my own since May and I thought joining this forum might provide some motivation and keep the momentum going. I've been overweight since elementary school, packed on the freshman fifteen and then some in college, and added a few more pounds every year since.

I've been on diets before, never losing more than 30 lbs and never lasting longer than 3 months. When I lived in Germany, I seriously considered gastric bypass surgery as many of my coworkers had it done with good results. But I love food too much and the long-term change to eating habits was too radical for my taste (pun intended).

Just trying to take it one day and one pound at a time.

I could teach a class on what you should do, it's just doing it that's hard.

Sounds like you just need to find what works for you The only way you can make this a permanent lifestyle is to choose something you KNOW you can live with!
I've been doing Atkins for 10+ years. I read Dr. Atkins book and I knew this was something I could do. I'm not suggesting you do Atkins (unless you think you would want to)....I'm just saying its individual for everyone.
This is a great forum, lots of good information and supportive people. I'm sure you will get a lot of opinions...but...bottom line, it needs to be about YOU!!

Yes, I could. I'm well versed in dieting do & don'ts, pitfalls, strategies, tips, etc. However, knowing is still different from actually doing. I didn't join the forum for information but for inspiration ... I'm inspired by those of you who are losing weight or maintaining goal, overcoming challenges, and cheering on others.

Hey everybody Im Aisling. Im 5 foot 8 and around 147 looking to reach the 120's. The weight piled on because of broken heart syndrome but Im nearly there. New to the forum. Heres to supporting each other and being the best diet buddies
