Default Greetings from a New User

Hi guys,

My name is Jen, I am new to the forum. I have PCOs, insulin resistance and a vast array of mental health issues... all of which I am sure are linked. Been given some diet advice to go alongside my Metformin medication.

Any tips would be great to help me along my way.

Happy New Year.

Jen x

Welcome Jen

Tip #1: Never get discouraged and never give up on yourself.

There is a lot of information out there regarding weight loss. All of it is right....all of it is wrong. What works for one person does not work for another and vice versa. The most important thing about weight loss is realizing your goal is not in fact weight loss, but FAT loss. There is a difference.

Don't make any medical issue as a reason for why things are the way they are. That's an excuse. August 2012 I was told to file disability and that my quality of life would be limited to the reach of how far my O2 tack teether allowed me to venture. Today, I run. Change what you can, accept what you can't, and challenge what you know.

Looking forward to hearing your successes. It's a battle, but it is a battle worth fighting

Happy New Year and welcome! A couple of things that I learned in the very beginning.
1) Be able to realize that your successes come in many forms (clothes getting loose, you can bend lower or walk a little further, etc) its not all about the scale.
2) Patience- allow yourself time to enjoy the wonderful changes that will come along the way.

Hi Jen! Everyone is indeed different and for most, pcos, insulin resistance, and mental health issues such as depression are quite valid reasons for having become overweight. However, the good news is things can get better and now that you've been properly diagnosed and are on meds with a recommended diet, you can take the weight off! We have forums here that deal with all three of your issues under "Dieting with Obstacles" and "Depression and Weight Issues" in the Support Forum section. There is even a new support chat group called "Ups and Downs" in the Depression and Weight Issues forum and that thread would be a great place to find encouragement from like-minded individuals. I wish you the best! You can do this! Good luck!
