Default Re-intro after falling off the wagon :(

Hi chicks, it's been such a long time since I was on this forum I think it warrants making an intro again!

So I'm now in my second year of uni as a mature student, and in my freshers year I moved away to Manchester (I'm at the University of Manchester) and pretty much lived the student lifestyle, stopped exercising and eating the crap that my uni mates did. As a result, I re-gained almost 30 of the pounds that I lost. I'm gutted and angry with myself for letting it happen, I don't know why I thought it wouldn't make a difference if I did a backslide into old unhealthy habits. But here I am. This second year I'm commuting to uni (which is cheaper, and my hometown Chester is much nicer to live in) and I joined Slimming World for extra motivation.

I have to say it's taking some getting used to, on Slimming World, as I was always a calorie counter with a carb problem. SW says that pasta, potatoes and rice are free, which is like saying there's a free bar to an alcoholic. Let's see how that goes, I might have to go back to counting cals if this doesn't work. I've been at SW for 3 weeks, lost a pound and a half in the first week but put it on again last week :s

Anyway. Hello to those I don't know, and a hello to those I do but haven't seen for ages! x

Welcome back, Marchmallow!

I've never heard of Slimming World (a UK thing?) It must be a very low fat plan to allow that much carb. There are times when that could work well for me. I liked the DASH diet at one point. It's not high carb, but they do let you count potatoes and sweet potatoes like other vegetables -- that was fun.

Hi Marchmallow! BACK! Oh my, I wouldn't be able to do free potatoes, rice, and pasta. You'll figure out what is best for you though! Glad you're back and good luck!
