Trying again!
Hello everyone! This is far from my first time attempting weight loss, but it is my first time posting here.
I managed to lose and keep off the first ten pounds down from my highest weight, but I've been losing and regaining the next ten pounds for over a year now, and I've learned a few things.
Focusing too much on weight loss is unhealthy for me. I struggled with some very disordered eating habits in middle and high school, and I get triggered back into them if I'm not careful. Calorie counting inevitably leads to me restricting too much. Tracking my weight too closely ends up with me feeling miserable with my slow progress and pushing my goal weight lower and lower. Sticking to a rigid exercise schedule leads to me exhausting myself.
Then, of course, I get discouraged because I'm tired and starving, and I give up and eat a whole pizza.
So, this time around, I am going to stick to a simple approach. I will add healthy foods into my diet and pay attention to portion size, but no foods will be off-limits to me. I will add in activity as often as I can, but I won't force myself to do anything I hate. I will accept that weight loss is going to be slow for someone of my size and try to focus more on healthy habits than the number on the scale.
And I will post here occasionally, to give myself the support that's so hard to find at home.
