Default New to the site & looking for tips on how to start!

Hello ladies!

I'm new here and I'm tired of being FAT! I currently weigh 220lbs - that's my heaviest and I am ashamed. I need some serious motivation and reading some of your success stories has really pushed me (thank you for that!) to start something.

If you have any tips on meal plans to follow, I'd surely appreciate it. I have no food allergies and really no food avoidance besides fish. If any of you have a plan for life on the go, that'd be great. I work two jobs (anywhere from 55 to 65 hrs a week) so portability is a plus.

I'm 31 years old, no kids yet and about 5'3" and would like to end up at 150 or 160. I have a juicer and a Wii. No gym membership but maybe in the future. Any tips or tricks, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Jennik! It sounds like simple counting calories might work best for you. I've seen on here where you can download an app on your computer and phone that helps you keep track. If I remember correctly, one app is fitnesspal and another is fitday. Maybe someone here will be able to verify that and tell you more about them. The good thing about counting calories with your busy schedule is that there are no restrictions on what or when you can eat as long as you stay within your calorie range (most people do 1200-1500 calories a day). Of course, eating healthy foods is ideal for the vitamins, minerals, protein, antioxidants, etc. There is a Calorie Counters forum under the Diet Central section here. Weight Watchers might also be a good choice. WW assigns points to foods and all you have to do is count the points. I believe there is a WW online so you wouldn't have to go to meetings. Plus there is a WW forum here at 3FC. Counting calories, however, is free. WW has a membership fee. Whichever plan you choose, whether it's one of these or another, good luck!

JenniK!

Oh, you are here and we are glad to share with you, and have you share with us. You know, I notice the ever charming Jacqui_D, who was one of the first to welcome me to 3FC a little over a month ago, has made some great suggestions already. Yup- sounds good to me! She's a wealth of info and inspiration. Too, as a matter of fact, I noticed that all three of us (you, me and Jacqui_D) all are starting appx the same weight and ending up at about the same place too! Very interesting.

Too, just a side note: I am about 2 hours west of you, in Rock Falls, IL (near Dixon, IL, if you know where that is).

Hi JenniK. I'm new here too. I just started back up on WW. I'm doing one of the older versions, Flex Points. I'm giving it a try and will see how I do...if it doesn't work, I'm going to join the WW online. I too am at my heaviest weight ever...233.8. Ugh, I don't like that #. My long term goal is to scale it back to 145-150 lbs. I'm going 10% at a time. That way it won't be so overwhelming to tackle the 80+ lbs. A friend of mine at work counted calories using Myfitnesspal.com. He lost 30 lbs in six months (so proud of him). What ever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll be successful. I'm here to support you...even as a new member of 3FC.
