The constant struggle

  • Hey everyone! I am so glad I found this website today. I'm about halfway through week 2 of my current weight loss journey here - I say current because this is probably the 30th time in 7 or 8 years I've been trying to get to my goal weight. I'm using the DAMY Health method program, created by Amy Layne and her husband.

I guess everyone on here has been there, which is why I'm really happy I found this place. Today I'm feeling a little down about myself. I think I'm retaining water today, and I've developed some sort of stomach problem this morning so my workout today was awful.

Anywho, I'm 25 years old and I live on Fort Hood, TX. My husband's in the Army so being in shape is something that's pretty important to the both of us. Right now I'm working through a training program to eventually run a 5k - one of my first running goals I've ever set for myself.

Here's hoping this forum helps to keep me on track. I could use the encouragement. I love the nutrition program I'm on but sometimes I really don't feel motivated from her words of encouragement she sends out. Just seems too fake to me.
  • Welcome!

About the water weight, I wouldn't worry. The day-to-day changes in weight that you see is basically all water (even when your weight goes down). It's the overall trend that is what you want to look at for fat loss.

I think it's great that you have fitness goals - those are good to have because some days/weeks/months the scale is just persnickety and it's nice to have something else to focus on.

With your nutrition program (haven't heard of it, so not sure of the details), it is likely that it is like a lot of other diet programs and so the encouragement will be laid on thick and be fairly cliche. I think it goes with the territory. That doesn't mean the program isn't good, though (but as I said, no idea what it is, so I can't comment).

Good luck with everything! And welcome, again!
