Height: 5'10"

Default Losing the Sophomore 15 (plus lots more)

Hi everyone!

I've read a lot of different weightloss forums and blogs over the past year and although they had great and inspirational stories, I've never bothered creating and account and posting in one of them because I've never really felt connected to the stories I read... but this forum seems really different so I'm gonna give it a shot, and hopefully you all can help encourage and inspire me and hold me accountable.

I think most people don't tell their entire story on an introductory post, but I am going to for myself to be able to remember how I got where I am and for you all to understand where I am coming from if you want to (if not skip to the last paragraph for my goals)

I'm a nineteen year old college sophomore and currently (day 1) I am 5'10" weight 233lbs with a final goal of 170lbs total weight loss 63lbs. My story starts back to freshman year of high school where I was 13yrs old already 5'10 and weighed 173lbs , and was very in shape. When I went to a routine yearly physical my doctor told my mom and I that I was slightly overweight (as in 3lbs overweight, although he didn't specify and didn't make a big deal out of it) but everything went downhill from there. My mom attacked me about my weight, I changed schools because my family moved and stopped playing sports, a year later at my next check in I weighed 199lbs; I gained almost 30lbs in one year! An my mom attacked me for that too, and this combined with a bunch of other pressures in life put me further into depression and my weight only went up from there. By the summer before senior year of high school I weighed 211lbs and by the summer after I graduated high school I weighed in at 238lbs. Between the 211 and 238 I never weighed myself (I only knew my weight from physicals) and I was shocked! I saw a nutritionist started eating right and within two weeks I weighed 225 (just in time to start move out to college).

Surprisingly at college I did the opposite of the usual and lost 15 pounds freshman year, I went to the gym all the time and took kickboxing, zumba, and pilates classes! It was great and although I didn't drop tons of weight like I hoped, it was still nice to have people who hadn't seen me in a while say I lost weight and to see the number on the scale lower than a previous weigh-in. Unfortunately the summer after freshman year brought me back to 225, but that was okay I would just work it off again and more right? Not so much Sophomore year meant harder classes, more responsibilities, and less free time to go to the gym which equals my current weight of 233 (my highest this semester was 239 but I was afraid of seeing a 240+ so I dieted to bring and maintain a lower weight in the 230s).

My goals: these are just number goals cuz it's 3am and I still haven't finished my homework, so I don't have time to write any other goals now
~Final Weight: 170lbs
~Mini Goals: 1) 212 2)199 3)191 4)180 5)170
~Mini Goal timeline: 1) July 1st, 2013 2) September 1, 2013 3) October 1, 2013 4) November 1, 2013 5) December 1, 2013

I hope to reach my goal by my 20th birthday in December and so that's about eight months to lose 63lbs, I would say wish me luck but I think we all no luck has nothing to do with it

ps: like i said it's 3am so sorry for any typos and confusing rambling (and for how obnoxiously long this post is haha) and also my mom apologized for how she acted before so it's all good with her she didn't mean to act the way she did back then when I wasn't even fat (even if I had been that still wouldn't have been okay) and that's been really encouraging

What I think is interesting here is that you can see the number and say, okay, I'm going to diet because I don't want to see that number get bigger. That's really cool! You will get there if you can do that easily. For me that's not so easy...I have a real addiction to food that I don't know how to break. But good luck!!
