Smile Hi, I'm DianeM2

Actually, I'm just Diane, but that was taken, so .... I'm a 48 year old female who has been dieting for most of my life. I currently weight 264 lbs, which is not as bad as it sounds .... I'm pretty tall. 5'10". Of course, in order for that to be a healthy weight I'd have to be about 12 feet tall. I'm diabetic with high cholesterol. I started this current diet program last February at 286 lbs, lost 46, then gained back 34 over the winter. I'm back on track and losing again. I use Fitday. That's not a promotion, is it? I noticed in the profile that you can link to a Fitday journal, so I'm assuming it's okay. I have tried WW in the past, and it worked for a while, but their new program just didn't work for me. I want to get to 200 lbs, which sounds like a lot, but the last time I was really fit that is what I weighed. The last time I was at my "prescribed" weight I was stick thin and had just spent 2 months flat on my back (literally - I had a broken back) in the hospital and had no muscle to speak of.

Anyway, I need some support. Someone to be accountable to. I looked on line and this was the first support site that I could relate to. I quit smoking (and met my husband) on a quit-smoking support group. I managed his immigration to marry me on a K-1 visa support group. So I'm going to try this. I'll try to give as good as I get. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. Thanks for reading this far.

Hi Diane,
Welcome! I quit smoking a little while ago too and I think it gave me tools to help me with my weight loss. Did you find that too? 200 is so doable. You can do it! You already know what works and what doesn't. Best wishes!

I think that quitting smoking definitely gave me tools to help with weight loss. Unfortunately, I can't give up food totally and they don't have a patch for it, so there are differences. Contratulations on quitting smoking and here's hoping that we both have success in losing/maintaining weight loss.

Congratulations on quitting smoking! I haven't gotten that far yet. My GP told me not to try too many things at once and with her concern about my blood sugar levels (I'm not diabetic yet but my mother is) and my cholesteral she thought I should try to lose some weight first and then work on the smoking thing. I am down to three packs a week which is a far cry from the almost two packs a day I was going through just a few years ago...baby steps. The goal is to quit once I've lost fifty lbs...I would love a link to your support group. All of my family and friends smoke so I have even less of a support system there than I do with food.

I'm 5'9 and I weighed about 200 when I met my husband and honestly...I thought I was smokin' hot. I think a lot the weight guidelines are a little arbitrary and you just need to be in a place where you feel good about your body. I set my goal for 160 because I've never weighed that little in my adult life, but honestly if I get to 190-200 and am happy with myself at that point I might just call it a day. You should do whatever is going to work for you.

Good luck with everything!!!

I think it's fine to mention it in a post as long as you aren't promoting or trying to sell it, which you aren't

Good luck on your journey and don't forget to post on here if you need advice or support. There is a forum for almost everything
