Hi everyone!
I'm Julie, 20 years old, from Las Vegas.
I'm joining after lurking for a couple of days and seeing what cool people there are around here and reading many many stories.
I guess I should start out with how I gained the weight. Well, I was a pretty lanky kid until I was 13 and hit puberty. I put on about twenty or thirty pounds in under a year and I couldn't figure out why. I wasn't any less active than before and my diet didn't change. Wasn't until I was 15 that I was diagnosed with PCOS, which didn't get properly treated until I was 18. I kept gaining weight, though.
Around January 6th I hit my highest weight at 205. I was at my endo's office and I assured him that it was all down from here.
I was not kidding.
Right after that I started going to the gym six days a week, researching weight training and cardio routines, and about a month ago from today I got together with a dietitian to help out on the food side of things.
I started Project Skinny By Summer (SBS) a couple years ago, actually. But I guess I'm finally ready to complete it. I realize I'm not going to lose ALL my weight by then, but I'm looking to get as far as I can the natural way. Plus the name is catchy.
I've been losing weight slowly- I honestly thought I'd be about seven pounds lighter right now than I am- but I'm losing it.
My biggest inspiration is my two best friends who have been so successful in losing weight already, and are now looking to drop their last 20-30 lbs.
I was so tired of feeling held back by my size and not wanting to look in the mirror because of how big my face looked. Sometimes there are challenges (especially with food!), but nothing I've ever done is more worth it. ^^; I haven't lost much yet, but that's how I feel so far.
I'm looking to get somewhere between 135-145, and reevaluate if I want/need more when I get there. The biggest issue is patience! I want it all to fall off, like...three days ago! lol
Sorry for the rambling there. ^^; I'm looking forward to sharing getting healthier with everyone!
