Howdy
Hello good people of the forums. I've actually lurked these boards before, in my previous weight loss attempts, and now that I've decided I'm changing my lifestyle for good I wanted to join in properly.
I'm Rachel and I'll try to be as brief as possible in telling y'all about my current weight loss situation. Over the course of pursuing my undergrad and master's degrees, I gained fifty pounds putting me at 300, my highest weight ever. Seeing that number on my scale was a huge punch in the face. I couldn't believe how easily those pounds had crept up on me.
Now I'm doing fairly well with Weight Watchers online, but I don't like their forums. The people are unfriendly and judgmental. Along with doing WW I wanted to work out because, since my gym membership expired over a year ago & I didn't renew it, I had lost so much of my strength and endurance. Now I work out at home with kettlebells, which I really love. I claim Lauren Brooks as my personal trainer because I use her dvds, book & blog for my workouts and nutrition tips.
Speaking of nutrition, I am changing my mindset about food. I wouldn't say I'm going completely "clean," but I do make an effort to eat more natural, whole foods with as few additives as possible. I buy organic whenever possible, and I avoid white breads/pastas/sugars when I can. It's difficult when I'm the only one in my household attempting to eat well though.... I'm trying to change my whole mindset and am focusing on getting healthier rather than thinner. Otherwise, I'd get too discouraged!
Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. I look forward to talking with all of you (as well as learning and being inspired)!
