new here.

  • Hello everyone, im Cathrin. Im 21 and im from California. I just found this site and I thought id sign up because im trying to lose weight too, and I thought it'd help me out a bit and so far it is.

I weigh 196 pounds. I am 5 foot and 8.5 inches, and my goal weight is 160. I was 160 before I blew up, and I thought it'd be a good number to start with. I am really sick of being big, not feeling good, not feeling like myself, **** I dont even feel human. You know when you're overweight when your freakin' boobs teach your stomach when you sit. I need to do something now or I am going to be sorry in the coming years, and I have a heart condition so being fat doesnt help my heart. I can do it if I just keep sane, ive done it before so im sure I can do it again.

Do you guys have any tips on losing seight, and eating? The only thing im doing is walking for 45 minutes and eat one apple, and then dinner. It seems like its helping a bit but id like to be 160 or 165 by may/june. Ha, im already trying to see how much weight ill lose by April 9th, that's when paramore new album comes out lol. Yeah, im weird like that. I wanna see if I can get 180 or 175 by then.

    Anyway, wish me luck.

  • Hello and Good for you for your commitment to lose your excess weight while you are young.

Are you saying that ALL you eat all day is an apple and then dinner? If so, my first bit of advice would be to start eating properly -- regular healthful meals including lots of fruits and veggies, but with sufficient amounts of carbs and protein, lots of water. Walking is a great way to start out with exercise.

  • Walking for 45 minutes is GREAT. Sometimes we have bigger exercise plans - this gym, that DVD, whatever - that never materialize . . . the smart people are the ones who just get out & walk! And if you add anything or change something fine, but if not, you are that much healthier for having gotten your walks in!!!

Your self-description sells yourself short - your photo shows a very attractive person!

    Good luck!!
  • Welcome and well done on the exercise. Find healthy meals you enjoy eating.
  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!
  • Welcome! I am so glad to that you found us here. I joined this forum last week and I have learned so much here already. Think about what healthy foods you enjoy eating. If you enjoy all types of foods, Weight Watchers is a great, well-balanced program. You can go to the meetings or if you are self-motivated, you may prefer to join online. They have great recipes on the site. If you prefer meats with some veggies and fruits, but very little breads, potatoes, pastas and other starches, you may like Atkins or the Metabolic Research Clinic programs. You are doing great walking 45 minutes a day for exercise. Keep up the great job! I look forward to "hearing" more about your successes.
