Hello
Hi everyone!
I'm back on the 3FTD forums again after a hiatus. The thread topics and the support from other members here really made the difference the last time I was here and I'm hoping it'll be the same now. I'm also embarking on another weight-loss journey--this time hoping to make sure it becomes more of a permanent lifestyle change!
About 2.5 years ago I lost 45 lbs and was down to 199lbs, keeping it off for about a year. But the stress of grad school and move across the country, away from my family, caused me to slip back into my old habits of not exercising and eating A LOT of fast-food. As of December 2012, at 26 years old, I found myself up to 262 lbs, nearly 20 pounds heavier than I was before I'd lost the weight 2.5 years ago. It wasn't only the number on the scale that bothered me, but I also started to noticing changes in my quality of life--breathing a little harder up stairs and not being able to do some of the drills I used to do with the players on the basketball team I help coach.
I've never been thin and I come from a family where nobody is really skinny--but I've always been somewhat athletic and never nearly as heavy as I'd let myself become. Not wanting to fall into the same trap as the other women in the family and spurred by my own personal need to get moving, I've overhauled the way I eat this past month (starting right after New Years)--making most of my meals and cleaning up what I eat (mostly veggies and unprocessed foods). I also workout every day. I've begun following a 5k plan and on my off days I either lift weights or go snowshoeing. And so far, I've successfully lost 15 lbs since the beginning of January!
My ultimate goal is to get back below 200 lbs. I know it's going to be a long journey, but I'm looking forward to continuing on this journey!
