Smile overweight with thyroid issues!

2 years ago i was at my about average weight i weighed 175 and at 5'8" thats pretty reasonable until i got pregnant with my twins. i gained an estimated 125 pounds due to bed rest and steroid injections. i have since struggled with getting the weigh off. i am down 40 pound but it has taken me 2 years due to hypothyroidism that was just now diagnosed. im hoping with the support of friends and others going through similar weight issues i can succeed in meeting my original weight. I am very thankful for a place like this where there are others like me. thanks for listening and happy dieting!!!

You can do this! So glad they were able to fix/find the thyroid problem too because that will greatly help with energy and weightloss. Keeping up with the kiddos should count towards some exercise regardless of what else you are able to find time for!

Hi biglove89. I also have thyroid issues... I have a disease called Hashimoto's Hypothyroiditis which is a little more severe than a regular low thyroid. On top of that, I have PCOS which has caused me to be insulin resistant...talk about the universe working against me in the weight loss department.

I just wanted to let you know that I started Weight Watchers on December 12 2012 and have since lost 20 lb, even with all of those issues. This is the first time in my life that I have ever actually lost weight on a diet plan...I usually just work my butt off and stay at the same weight. I think this time it is due to my TSH FINALLY being at a normal level (I went from 8.1 to 0.9)... It has taken 3 years of taking Synthroid every single morning and having my blood tested every 3 months to finally get on a dose that works perfectly for me. What I'm trying to say is there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is possible to lose weight with thyroid issues! It might be a slower loss than most, but it will happen if you stick to it!
