Default 40 is just around the corner!

Yes it’s the New Year and a bit cliché that my main resolution is to get healthy. It seems like I always choose something to do with weight.

Honestly, this is the year I HAVE to make it happen. I am 39 and will be 40 on June 1st. I don’t want to be obese when I am 40. I want to be fit. I have wanted to be fit for a long time, but that number is slapping me in the face and this is the year I make it happen.

My goal is to lose 92 lbs by the end of the year (140 lbs) and ultimately to lose 102lbs. (130 lbs).

I know the goal is lofty, but it is still less than 2lbs a week, so I hope that I should be able to stick with it and get the support I need here at 3fatchicks.

My starting weight was 232 lbs and I am 5’3”.

I am starting to have a few health issues arising from being Obese (God, I hate that word). Right now I have plantar fasciitis really bad in one of my feet. It is keeping me from walking very much and even doing the elliptical at the gym – my foot is burning in agony after only 10 minutes. So I have to pick and choose what exercises I can do.

I also snore really bad and I may have sleep apnea.

So now is the time to act. A big hurdle for me is food. I am a terrible planner, so I need to bring lunches to work as well as snacks. I don’t know how many times I’ve found myself at a fast food place because I didn’t have a lunch. Today I have a lunch, and I will plan on bringing one all this week.

So wish me luck!

Good luck - and here's a toast to a year for YOU. You become the most important person on your agenda - plan your meals, plan your time to be active, plan time to relax so you're in a good mindset. We all know that it won't just "happen" -it takes planning to succeed - so GOOD JOB on planning for today's lunch!

What healthy eating/living program are you going to follow?

You'll be 40 and Fab!

Nationalparker,

I have about 45 days worth of Visalus shakes, so I am hoping that this will give me the boost I need. I am not sure if I will continue with them past that time. I really enjoy food and I want to be realistic with myself – a person can not drink shakes forever.

I am looking for a good program for healthy eating. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I'm a newbie to the site. Is there a program that you (or anyone else that wants to answer) recommend?

Welcome and good luck... I've just turned 40 last week. And feeling blah on that day has given me the extra motivation to get going so my 41st birthday has me feeling fit, and healthy.

Take care and all the best for your goals.
