Hello! I'm Pipina, from Spain, and after a lot of time reading this wonderful forum I've decided to become a member, it seems so helpful!
Last year I lost 14 kg (30 pounds) doing a low-carb diet I found in the web, the "ketogenic mediterranean diet" by Dr. Steve Parker. What attracted me in the first place was his emphasis in olive oil, which is the main cooking and dressing fat where I live. I followed this plan for 3 months and a half. Then the summer came, I left the diet and regained a little... but only a little, and I lost it again easily. I had heard low-carb diets had a strong rebound effect -well, not for me.
I have still a fair amount of weight to lose, but I don't feel like dieting anymore. I've designed a program using "exchanges" which is moderately low-calorie and moderately low-carb (around 110 g a day) and plan to follow it in the long term. I expect I shall be losing slowly and eventually stop at an acceptable weight. At the moment I've lost 3 kg (6.5 pounds) and it has taken one month and a half... slowly but surely, I hope.
