Default sick of this

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum - well I joined sometime ago but never used it. So here I am. I have lost and gained the same 20-25 lbs 3-4 times over the past year since I had my daughter, who turned 4 in August. I am so fed up and sick and tired of feeling bad about myself, wearing sweats, letting myself go, and having a rotund abdomen. I continually sabotage myself because I feel like "what's the point?" My life has been really hard since my daughter was born and the feelings I have of desperation and hopelessness contribute to my compulsive eating and weight gain. Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and say "hi" and hope to meet people and get support here (and give support, too).

Gobo

Welcome, Gobo! I know exactly how you feel when you say you're tired of feeling bad for yourself. I've been there (and still am on certain days) for too long now myself. It's hard since I remember loving to go out and let people see me. I stopped going out, I stopped wearing anything nice (I live in sweats at home and don't really take pride in my office suits anymore), stopped using make up and doing my hair... I just stopped being me. I stopped feeling pretty. I'd eat to feel better, feel horrible for eating, then eat some more. Years later and here I am, at my heaviest ever, basically hiding out indoors.

But even though I still feel self conscious and unsure of myself, I'm finding the more I eat right and exercise, the better I feel. The girls here also really help that out. Everyone here is very supporting and motivating. I come here to read their stories and give and get support. I've got a long ways to go before I hit my goal, but this is the first time in my life I think, not only can I accomplish this, I really feel like this will be the last time I have to make this hard journey.

I know you're sick of this---we all are. And we're glad you're here. You can do this!!! Chime in on any threads you find interesting; I really think the more you involve yourself, the more you'll commit to this lifestyle change. Good luck and I look forward to going on this journey with you!!

Laki - thx for the kind and motivating reply! You really do sound a lot like me. Sucks to feel crappy about yourself especially if you're someone who used to take pride in your appearance (me). I am gonna do my best to get involved. Congrats on all your progress. I noticed your goals and your ticker and you are doing great.

Hi gobofraggle! I, too, know exactly what you mean, regarding feeling badly about yourself. I still struggle with it some days- such as, why should I flat iron my hair and leave it down instead of putting it up in a bun? I'm still fat and unattractive. Some days I have to force myself to make the extra effort, but I usually don't regret it.

The ladies (and guys!) here are great for motivation and encouragement. Good luck to you on your journey to feeling better about yourself!!

Gobo, I too, had a very difficult time for years after my kids were born. This is a new day...and after you have lost a little weight you may begin to feel more like yourself again. Do you think you had postpartum depression?
