Red face Depressed and overweight!

Hi there! I have been looking up a few things lately, and I keep coming upon this site, so I figured I would join. I have gained 40 lbs. in the last year, and it is very disheartening. I am on medications for bipolar and major depression and I think these have contributed to the weight gain. I won't lie though, I do eat junk, and I have a hard time making myself exercise. And thus the circle goes on. I look forward to 'talking' to you guys, getting some advice, and definitely some support.

Well start slow by cutting out the junk... the best way I've found to easily cut out junk food is to have good food ready BEFORE you are hungry.

I try to keep boiled eggs on hand all the time.... if I feel like snacking... they are right there.

I feel your pain. I often self-soothe with food. About a year ago, I started taking anti-depressants and started gaining weight as a side effect. I talked to my DR and they adjusted my dosage and added a drug that helped with self control. Perhaps if you bring up the issues with your doctor, they can help mitigate the weight-gaining side effects Good luck and know that you aren't alone!

I gained a lot of weight when I started medication for bipolar disorder and major depression as well, I gained about 50 pounds and then another 20, just because I couldn't do anything about it! Well, just wanna wish you luck and say that you aren't alone!
