Default Something's got to change

Hi, I'm Jane. I'm huge.

I've been heavy most of my life. At 27 I was 435 lbs. I never should have let it get this way. My dad was 6'8" and at his heaviest was over 800lbs. Bariatric surgery was his last hope, and it led to a stroke that killed him at 54. You would think that would be motivation enough. But denial is a powerful thing.

What finally got me going was vanity. Pure and simple. The shame of having to head back up the steps at Hopewell rocks 2 minutes after I got down there so my friends wouldn't see how long it took me to climb them will never leave me. The prospect of two weddings, one with high school classmates and one with extended family, lit a fire under my butt. I started Aug 1, and I am down 57 lbs. I cut out the litre+ of coca cola. I went gluten free because my bf had to. I now eat as clean as possible, mixing paleo/primal with carb and caloric restriction. I drink lots of water and swim daily.

I'm at a stall now and tempted to give up, that's why I'm here. I loved lurking here. So inspiring and informative!

This may sound cheesy but you have to change your self-talk. You start off by saying "I'm huge." If you begin to speak positively about yourself and the progress you have already made so far, it will help reignite your motivation.

You’re not huge... You are in the process of changing your lifestyle.
You're not huge... You are making strides to be a healthier you.
You're not huge... You are a beautiful woman that is learning to put herself first

Good luck!! And Welcome

Don't give up on yourself. You are doing such an amazing job. 57lbs gone is an incredible feat. I think beautifulinside may have a point. 9 times out of 10 we plateau mentally which leads to us plateauing physically & not the other way around. Best of luck making it past this point on your journey
