Default I've been lurking

Hi everybody - I've been lurking here for a couple of months and have found it a huge help to know there are other people out there with EXACTLY the same concerns and problems with weight that I have had. I'm a little bit over 60 and embarked on my most successful weight loss project in my entire life over the last year or so. For about 6 months I tried to eat healthy low carb. I have no idea where I started because I had refused to get on a scale for years. After I got down from 2X to1X and was feeling a little better about myself I weighed myself and got really motivated to make faster progress at 222 lbs.

Since about the end of January 2012 I have gotten down to 178 which is nowhere near where I had hoped to be by now.

My biggest challenge is that I travel for my job - a lot. I wasn't home one entire week from the middle of August to the middle of October. Some of that travel was to places where they have incredible food like Switzerland, Austria and Belgium. They have the best fries in the entire universe in Belgium and if you're not familiar with "rosti" from Switzerland, look it up in wikipedia. Not to mention the pastries they put on the table during business meetings.

So I'm really happy to be here and hope to be able to contribute (between flights anyway...)

Welcome, annieway! I know what you mean.. I used to travel a lot for my previous job, and it's so hard to stay on track when you're constantly on a plane eating airline food, switching timezones, going to awesome countries known for chocolate and beer, being a guest in foreign homes where they feed you and you can't turn them down because that would make you a bad guest... I just joined this site myself and have found that if I come here everyday, even if I don't post anything, I usually get the motivation I need to exercise. Congrats on the weight you've lost so far!
