It's good that you're going into your diet with such determination, and remember these things will take time so just stay optimistic! Personally, when I eat beans, I retain water.. but that just might be me.. and I'm positive that you will get a lot of support from this group, it has helped me stayed on track!
As for me, I am basically doing the same thing you are doing right now. It is still a bit hard for to give up sugar, but I am on a low carb diet, I'm actually on the South Beach Diet and it has helped me tons. We have a section for that too, so browse around the forum to see what others are doing!
