One last lost weekend

  • Good morning all! My husband and I have our initial weigh in appointment next Wednesday morning and we start next Thursday. We find this week we've been eating extra bad and will be for the next few days when we go to Seattle to visit our son and daughter in law (who've flown in from the east coast for a wedding). We plan on eating at all our favorite places. We don't have any good places we enjoy in the town we live in so we don't eat our very often.

We haven't owned a scale in probably 30 years, though my husband weighs himself at the court club. We came to the decision to try IP when my husband ran into a male friend of ours that lost 35 lbs on IP at the same time my best friend lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks on IP. I know I've gained since the last time I was weighed at the Dr.s office in June. So right now I'm guessing I am 175 lbs and I think I am setting a goal of 135 lbs. I weighed 107 when I graduated from high school, 117 when I got married 30 years ago.

Our main bad eating habits are portion control, the fact that husband and I both are great cooks and we enjoy gourmet cooking and we both enjoy splitting a bottle of wine during/after dinner. We never eat dessert and if we buy a 1/2 gallon of ice cream it ends up sitting in the freezer and gets freezer burn before we think about eating another scoop. I only bake maybe 6 times a year - if it is in the house we will eat it. I don't buy chips/corn chips/crunchy snacks - same rule. Maybe 6-8 times a year we'll do blue corn tortilla chips and guacamole for dinner. Other wise we keep them out of the house. Fruit is a big problem for me. All year round I probably have 3-4 pieces of fruit per day!

    Well, wish us luck!!!

  • You will love the IP plan.....well, not at first - you might hate it But stay strong, hang in there, and when the weight starts dropping off, and you start feeling good, you'll know it was the right thing to do. It's not easy, but it's only as difficult as you make it. Stay on these forums, lots of great peop-le and great advise and support. Best of luck to you and your hubby!
  • Thanks for the support!! We're already scanning for great recipes for our veg and protein options! We may just have to change out a few ingredients in some of our favorites. Finding a good pasta alternative will be a challenge for me. I doubt that my favorite pasta brand - Barilla - has a no carb no fat no cal option!!! We will be trying miracle noodles if they are allowed.
  • Good luck to you both with your efforts!!
