Greetings and salutations,

My name is Jessica and I am new to this forum and website. I'll try to keep my intro as succinct as possible. I have been overweight my whole life and have tried many different ways to get in shape. A few years ago I did manage to lose about 60 lbs through exercise and healthy eating, and I thought nothing would ever make me revert from my new healthy lifestyle. Alas, divorce happened and it was a difficult one, and over the past year I've gained it all back. While I can say the stress from the divorce led me to relapse to my old, unhealthy habits, I can't blame a situation when I know that every single choice was mine. I am still fighting those demons every day, even this morning. I am finding it so hard to keep myself on track like I used to be, even though I know that it would make me so much happier.

I am hoping that by joining this community I will find some friendly people that know what I'm going through. This is something new for me and since nothing else seems to be working for me, I thought I would try it. Thanks, and I hope everyone out there is having a pleasant day so far.

welcome jessica! draw strength everyday from knowing u will n can make the right, healthy choices u need! n IF u make a mistake (u r a human rite? lol) u will go rite back on plan and or a lil extra exercise! u can do this!

Thanks, Dangerouscurves. Yes, I am all too human and prone to mistakes. I must admit that. I appreciate the encouragement.

Theox, thank you. I am not following a plan per se. I am vegan and am trying to get back to the eating plan I followed before when I lost the weight. Basically I was eating a ton of veggies, fruits, a good amount of protein, and was fearful of anything else, even a little lifesaver candy scared me. Not the case anymore! My biggest downfalls are carbs and sugars. For exercise, I go to the gym regularly and do both cardio and weight training, but for me it's harder to follow the diet than the exercise program. I know that no amount of cardio can justify a poor diet, but knowing these truths doesn't mean I can make myself follow them. I wish I could get back into the disciplined mindset I was in before.

If I may ask you, and anyone else that cares to respond, how do you keep yourself on track?

I too have no problem exercising, but put a cake in front of me and that cake's gone! I have kept myself going by having only one person know about this "journey" (I can't wait until my mom notices!), that one person lives with me (my husband) and keeps me accountable, hubby hides the scale so I only weigh myself once a month (otherwise I get discouraged), and making meal plans of food I really like
