Hi everyone!! I am hoping to make some new friends on this long, long weight loss journey. Four months ago I had the most precious baby girl, she was most definitely worth every minute of morning (and noon and night) sickness and every painful contraction <3 Unfortunately though, I let myself enjoy the pregnancy cravings a little (or a lot) too much. I was already extremely overweight before getting pregnant and now am in the dangerous zone at 280lbs. On top of the pregnancy cravings, I am also on a fairly high dose of Prednisone which makes losing weight that much harder (if anyone has ever been on Prednisone for a long period of time you understand!). But, I have decided that, most of all, I want to be a healthy example for my daughter and I am NOT going to the fat Mom. This makes week two of my journey and I have lost 8 pounds (most of which I am sure if water weight) and it has been extremely difficult. I have a few friends who are willing to exercise and commiserate with me but they are looking at losing 10/15/20 pounds and I am looking at losing 100/150 pounds. So, even though they are great support they don't exactly understand where I am coming from or some of the frustrations I have. I am hoping to make some friends here who can understand, support, cry and laugh with me through this journey

Welcome, Abby's Mom! I am new here myself, but I already feel at home. Congratulations on the new baby! You must be delighted. That is wonderful that you have such supportive friends, and I totally get what you mean about people not getting where you are coming from even though they are supportive. Luckily we have found a whole group of people in the same boat! And ps, congrats on the 8lbs!

Welcome to 3FC! My goal is to lose 100 lbs, so I definitely understand your concern when it comes to finding someone who you can relate to. But regardless of who relates to you, just keep your goal in mind and do it for yourself and your baby girl! The reward is well worth the determination!
