Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the forums for a few days now so I figured I should introduce myself.
I'm turning 30 next month and started struggling with my weight when I hit my late 20's (that darn metabolism!). Around the age of 27 I weighed myself and saw the number 214 staring back at me. That's a lot of junk to carry around on a 5'4" frame. Shortly after that I was let go from my job and decided to go to school and earn my undergrad and masters degrees. I didn't make any conscious decision to lose weight but walking around campus and having no time for meals (bad I know) brought my weight down to 150. However, my lack of healthy eating and exercise habits have finally caught up to me and I weighed in on May 1st at 161 pounds.
It's a weird place for me to hit my breaking point, but for some reason that 161 pound reading got me riled up. I started calorie counting and eliminated soda, juice, alcohol, processed food when possible, and switched to whole wheat pasta and brown rice. I'm eating 5 small meals per day. Now for the best and most important part- exercise! I started the Insanity workout program and I don't have words for how much I love it. I just finished my second fit test and my numbers have improved dramatically. I have a ton of energy and more importantly, I feel happy. I will caution that Insanity is not for people just starting a workout program, and it's not for people with back, knee, or neck problems.
So as of today, May 17th I am down to 155 pounds. I didn't start losing weight until I incorporated my new diet on May 7th so I'm down 6 pounds in 10 days. My goal as of now is to get to 130 pounds. I may want to go lower than that but I am focused on that 130 mark!
I have been so inspired from reading what the ladies on this forum have been able to accomplish and I can't wait to make my own post in the goal forum. Thanks for reading all this and I look forward to being an active community member!
