Hi! I'm Erin. Stumbled upon this website while looking for weight loss tips. I lost about 40 lbs between January and Sept of last year in preparation for my wedding. I've gained and lost since then and have averaged out about the same as I was on my wedding day. I've done weight loss in the absolute WRONG and most unhealthy ways possible in the past. I need to get on track doing things RIGHT this time!
Pllleassse tell me I'm not the only one who's totally lost right now!
Erin, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diet plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join. Realizing that there isn't a quick fix to weightloss is great. Healthy changes will keep you on track.
Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your weight loss success to day. 40lbs is huge!
Find a food plan that fits in your lifestyle and you can follow long term. It needs to be a lifestyle change or the weight will come back. I chose calorie counting because it is free and flexible. It allows me to eat almost anything I wanted as long as it fits within my calorie range for the day and there are ton of free apps out there to help you track your food.
Give up the sugary drinks and drink lots and lots of water.
Incorporate some exercise into your weekly routine. You do not have to join an expensive gym try to walk more, use the stairs more, download videos off of YouTube or Hulu.com to work out to. There are a lot of things you can to do with spending a ton of money.
Lastly, if you have a bad meal, a bad day, heck, a bad food week. Do NOT let this be a reason to throw in the towel. Get back on track at the next meal. You can do this!!!
Best of luck to you!
hi Erin, Welcome!! I was totally lost too, when I started. Then I researched and decided on a plan. It all began to fall in place and to a certain extent I feel like an old pro, although I've only been at this for 7 weeks or so you'll get the hang of it, just search around for what you think you can stick to. Congrats on your weight loss so far!!
Hey Erin, Welcome! Itīs nice to see I have a neighbor here (Im in Spain). 40lbs is a lot to lose, and I totally know what it is like to yo-yo. I tend to do it often. Last spring I lost 30ish pounds and gained it all back through the fall months, am losing it again this time I hope for good.
You can do it. Just know itīs not a race. Try to do the best you can on a daily basis, and if you have a bad day or moment remember tomorrows a new day.
