Default Hi there!!!

Hello! I'm here in hopes of gaining knowledge about losing weight: the quickest, yet healthy way to get there. I use to be 250 lbs, and I'm only 5' short and 23 years old... Over the course of six months of changing my eating habits and physical activity, I'm now at 205 lbs. Yay me, but I still want to lose more... Plenty more. Lol! Just an side note though, I think I lost all that weight because I was depressed (I just got out of a long relationship...) and I have a habit of not eating when I'm angry or sad.

Now I feel like I am okay with myself mentally, I feel great seeing that I've lost all that weight, but I feel like I didn't lose it like I should. Now that I actually have a goal to lose weight, I'm confused about how to start and what to do...

I have a gym membership. I just do cardio for an hour, and I take a look at all the weight equipment and get timid because of all the men. Lol!

I hope I meet people on the same journey as I am, and also people to guide me along the way. I feel a little bit alone working on this goal of mine

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. That's so amazing. You should be so proud. I'm much heavier, but looking to lose a lot none the less. So far I'm about 40-some lbs into it and looking to lose another 100+!! Keep in touch here, it's very inspiring and sometimes it's just the thing to keep me going!

You can do it!!

Congratulations on your loss so far!

Is there any reason you're looking for a quick way to get there? You're 23! You have plenty of time to get to your goal weight. Also, don't be intimidated by the guys at the weights! Many of them are so surprised that a woman is joining them that they don't even care how much you're lifting! I love lifting weights and it really helped me lose weight and tone up.

Good luck!

First off a HUGE CONGRATS on the 40 lbs you have lost, that is GREAT!
Do you know what food plan you are going to follow? There is a ton of information about many different food plans on this site. Pick a plan that fits in your lifestyle and you can follow long term. I chose calorie counting because it is free and flexible. It allows me to eat almost anything I wanted as long as it fits within my calorie range for the day and there are ton of free apps out there to help you track your food.
Give up the sugary drinks and drink lots and lots of water.
I too have found I love lifting weights, it makes me feel strong and powerful. Start slowly, do not try to lift too much to fast but do not be intimidated by them.
If you have a bad meal, a bad day, heck, a bad food week. Do NOT let this be a reason to throw in the towel. Get back on track at the next meal. You can finish this!!!
Best of luck to you!

I have the same problem. I've had a gym membership for about a year and a half now and I am not getting my money's worth because I feel awkward. But I've decided that I am going to let that get in my way any longer! I keep thinking of all the pounds I could have lost had I been using the gym like I should have, and how much money I have wasted. It's not going to happen anymore!

I'm 23 as well, and I look in the mirror and just hate what I see at 220lbs, I've lost 10 pounds in the last year, so that's a definite plus. I just want to be able to go to the store and not have to search for that elusive size 16 that NEVER seems to be there. Well, that, and I want to be healthy.

Congrats on your weightloss! Even if maybe it wasn't the best way to lose weight, it's still a great accomplishment. And now at least you can take your weightloss by the horns and do it the right way. Looking forward to getting to know you. I love these forums already.
