Smile Hi - ready to not be fat anymore & giving up 2 "simple" things

Hi - my name is Sarah and I have lost weight a couple times over the years and gained it back... Which is where I am now. I have a sugar & flour problem and I currently *always* choose refined carbohydrate foods over fruit & veg. When I am able to give them up and eventually lose the carb cravings, I do well and can maintain a healthy weight & size - but I think flour & sugar may be an addiction like cigaretters - a healthy me takes two bites of yummy cake and gets a feeling of "I'm cured!" and I'm right back on the carb binge. . 50 lbs later, I'm glad to find an online support community. I am not anti-carb altogether -- just flour & sugar. I am anti-processed carbs. my method in the past, which has worked well, is to give up bread and sugar and eat mainly vegetables & fruit and some meat/fat/whole carbs like potatoes, rice & corn. Veg & fruit are the staple foods and i try to have them either raw or very lightly cooked. Unlimited, even fruit. No ground or granulated carbs. French fries are ok once a week. Bread - never. Candy or dessert - POISON. I am starting now. It takes a week or so to get over the cravings for bread & sugar. That is the hardest part. Here goes. Thanks for being here.

Hi Sarah! I'm right there with you on the whole losing and re-gaining roller coaster. Sweets are probably my biggest weakness, but potatoes (especially french fries!) are a close second. It's good that you know exactly what you need to do and how to go about it! Good luck with the carb cravings over the next few days! Keep us updated!

...and I'm right there with both of you. I will have to skip the potatoes and french fires, and too much fruit, but I can still have some cheese and nuts, and still lose. Good luck to all of us!
