After about a year of reading posts on this forum I finally decided to join.
In early 2009 I reached my highest weight ever. At about 5'9" I am pretty tall, and larger framed to begin with. But even for my height, 220lbs is pretty bad. Between a Richard Simmons diet, and Jillian Michaels DVDs, I have lost roughly 50lbs. While that is a great leap, I still have more to lose. I've gotten to this weight quite a few times before, and for whatever reason I always lose my footing, and gain it all, plus more, back. I know this story sounds familar to a lot of you, as millions of other women have the same story. But sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who's ever been in this position. It's a struggle a lot of people will never understand. Especially most tiny girls my age.
I really want to break past this point. I'm not even at a plateau, but for some reason there's always an invisible, mental, barrier between this point and my goal. I guess I need encouragement from others in my postition. I need help breaking through. The closer I get to my goal, the harder it is for me. It's hard to understand.
I joined now because it's early November, and everyone knows what that means. Halloween knocked me off my path. I need to stop this unhealthy, unhappy path before it gets out of hand yet again.
Anyways, that's my story, and why I'm here. Loved reading inspiring posts by others struggling in the same ways (mainly binge eating) and look forward to getting to know some of you

PS. Was wondering how I get one of those widget things for my signature that displays my starting weight, my current weight, and my goal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your amazing loss to date! The haloween candy got me this weekend too but we need to pull ourselves back up and continue on the path.
You can get a tracker after you have been a member for 20 or 30 days and have had 20 or more posts.
OMG- I know EXACTLY ho wyou feel. I am a binge eater, too, and have struggled to get past the 170 mark, too. I only ever did it once. You are already down 50 lbs- which is totally inspirational and motivating for me. Hang in there, this is your time- I just know it!
I, too, bought some Jillian Michaels dvds. I am starting the 30 day shred. What kind of short-term results did you get? I just want to know what to expect....

Thanks so much! Sometimes just a few words from someone else can give you a huge boost! Appreciate it What is it about 160-170? lol. I've almost gotten to 160 like twice, and let it slip both times. but for the mose part 170 is always my killer. Weird.. I feel like it's something probably entirely mental. I sabotage myself. Maybe some sort of fear? I've seen a lot of people do that on Biggest Loser, and a trainer will break them down until they confess some fear/worry. One thing I've learned is weight loss is a mental journey just as much a physical one.

I credit a HUGE part of my weight loss/fitness gain to Jillian. I started with 30 day shred, and stayed at level 1 for months, was great. That's all I did for exercise, maybe 5 days a week and it was awesome. In the past, every other time I tried to lose weight it was all about the diet, and I'd throw in some cardio. This is the first time I built up muscle too. had no idea how important it was. She's SO motivating. She doesn't sugar coat it. Doesn't put on a cheesy plastic grin, "I'm having fun, and I'm in no pain at all!" haha.
I worked my way up to No More Trouble Zones. It's tough, and like twice as long, but if you stick with 30 day eventually you'll need to "up" your workout. Plus NMTZ, once you're ready, is an even more complete body workout. You'll be sore in your arms, including triceps (one of my worst features lol), your bum, abs, legs. ALL over, lol.
As soon as I started 30 day I noticed a huge difference, probably in just a couple weeks. Being someone who never worked out or lifted weights, I started with only 2lb hand weights and it was very effective for me. When you start there may be parts you can't get through, but there's nothing like getting to that point where you can
Hope you enjoy the video! I also love her "Ripped in 30." Her videos are pretty quick, VERY effective, and you don't get bored with them for a long time. Bob Harper's "Pure Burn, Super Strength" is incredible, but I can only do it after sticking to Jillian for weeks in a row. It's tough, but great when you feel like even Jillian's No More Trouble Zones is getting a little effortless.
YES!!! You are the motivation I need! I can do almost anything for a couple weeks. Then, if I can see results that quickly, I'll be motivated to keep going! Thanks for the post. I'm planning to get my butt kicked by Jillian tonight!
Thanks for the Jillian recommendation! I love Biggest Loser!
I just joined and am 2 weeks postop from a LapBand. I think I am ready to start exercising. Thanks for the motivation.
Enjoy your first night with Jillian! Please come back and let me know what you think of her!
You're very welcome, both of you It's funny, I joined to get motivation, which I am, but in the process I'm motivating others. Love it
pknitty, not sure what recovery is like after that, but hope you're doing good. A friend of mine got a lapband about a month ago. Obviously I'm no doctor, but if you are healed enough to workout then I imagine 30 day shred would be the best place to start. Probably the easiest of all of hers I've tried. Good starting point. Good luck!
