Smile Hello I'm Sara a new here

I've decided too finally act after years of being unhappy with my body ..
Hi i'm Sara i'm 17 and 5'4'' 200lbs Iv'e been told I carry the weight well but I know that it is taking a toll on my mind and my health now I always could deal with this but over the past year I gained 25+ I was chubby before but ive blown up and losing my hourglass figure my arms have gotten huge and my periods which were always normal started getting wacky ..I feel like i'm young and I should already have this soft feminine small body instead I feel like I look like I already had 2 + kids ...I really don't want to end up with diabetes I can't afford a gym membership right now .. I'll post pictures when I can

Hi Sara and welcome to 3FC =)

No need to go to a gym in order to be more active! You can take walks, you can climb stairs, you can park further away from the building you're about to enter... there are SO many ways to get in activity without joining a gym.

Have you thought about a food plan of any kind? Let us know! We'd love to help support you on your journey.

Thankyou for the warm welcome
I have thought about a semi macrobiotic diet
basically whole grains , soy products and whatever local veggies are in stock
but I wouldn't totally cut out dairy maybe organic yogurt ...I have thought about learning some fast cardio ..I have tried many times and failed but I don't know if I ever really tried i'll need some support here and at home...

It'll come down to working up things into habits. No need to start out running a 5k every day. You can easily start by taking small steps or short walks, and when you're consistently going out and doing, then you can build up. Same thing with DVDs or other types of workouts. You may not be able to do every single move, but you can keep time and walk in place, or tap your feet or do -something-.

I promise you it is far more important at the beginning to do anything, rather than push yourself too hard and give up after two weeks.

You can definitely make sustainable changes! Reach out for as much support as you need on the boards. We're all here to give a little nudge to each other.

Hi sara - welcome!!

This weight loss thing isn't as tough as you would think. I found the toughest part was deciding to lose the weight - it feels much better than sitting at home sulking cos I can't fit into the cute outfits myfriends wear.

So youhave taken the hardest step. I have found calorie counting and portion control really works for me. It's not too restrictive and I can still eat my favourite things - just less frequently!

You can do this - can't wait to hear how you do

I'm doing the same thing. Seems to me the most practical and most sustainable.
Good luck to you and your weight loss journey!

Hi, Sara! So true what Lovely said - you don't need a gym membership! I have NEVER had a gym membership, and I managed to lose weight. Walks and runs outside are great. Lifting hand weights can also be good. Scour the internet - there are tons of good work outs!
