Hello from Maine!

  • Hi all!
I'm Sara, I'm 22, and I'm from Maine. In school, I've always been a little chubby, but not obese. But then I started being homeschooled from grades 7-12, and that is when I really started gaining a lot of weight. I would try going on diets in the past, but didn't have the will power to stick with it. Then I became a CNA and lost over 20lbs (working in a nursing home is hard work!). Now I've plateued and even gained a few pounds back (yikes!). So now I'm trying to make a commitment to myself to lose the weight for a few reasons:
    1) Like anyone else, I want to look better and feel better about myself.
    2) I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and losing the weight will help with the symptoms.
    3) Right now I am relatively healthy, but I have health problems on both sides of my family which include hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and some hyperglycemia. I can see the future, and I don't want any of it!
This looks like a great place to get support for my weight loss journey and can't wait to get to know you all better!

    Sara
  • Welcome! I'm glad you've made a positive step towards securing your health for the future. There's a section on here dedicated to discussion for those who have special medical problems which make it difficult to lose weight, including, I believe, a PCOS section. You should check it out!
  • Welcome to 3FC =)

There's a PCOS area under Dieting with Obstacles. There's a 20-something area. So many other places. Just dive on in wherever you're comfortable and start posting!

Glad to have you join us and hope to see you around the boards!
