Hello everyone, I randomly found this site today and couldn't resist joining. I'll intro myself with a bit about me and then about my journey.
Name's Crystal, I am 31 years old, with no children, a boyfriend who's aversion to vegetables makes me sad and two very spoiled cats.
I've always been a little overweight, however in the past several years (mostly since meeting my boyfriend) I've packed on more weight than was comfortable for me. So last fall I decided to join Weight Watchers. I did great, got from 225lbs down to 186 lbs and then after losing my job in February had to cut back spending and WW had to go. In the time since then I have managed to put weight back on and as of today am 203lbs.
I've been giving myself leeway over the past six weeks as my father was very ill and ended up passing away April 9th after a 3+ year battle with colon cancer.
I've often used food as an escape and been an emotional eater. I know it's not okay and it's time for me to stop this behavior. I have since January taken up running in addition to working out at home on my stairclimber. Last month I completed my first 6k marathon. In less than 2 weeks I have my first 10k marathon. I am excited, yet very nervous.
I guess after leaving WW behind I've not had a community to look to for support and to just vent or look for advice, etc.
I am hoping that I'll have found that here.
Crystal
Two steps forward and one step back still puts you one step ahead.
First, I am so sorry for your loss.
WOW! I am so impressed, a 10k, I could not run a 1k.
Are you following the WW food plan?
You can do it. You have proven to yourself that you can lose the weight. Best of luck to you!
Hey NEMom,
Thank you so much! I am not currently on the WW plan, I am tracking on my phone with the MyFitnessPal iphone application. So far it's working out well as long as I utilize it, rather than try to just keep track of calories and such in my head.
Also I am working at cutting out the 'junk food' and replace it with more appropriate foods that I still get cravings for that will satisfy those salty, crunchy or sweet cravings that I always get.
Good luck to you Crystal!!!
I also joined today...we're all in it together...what a great place to encourage one another along in their journey of becoming healthy! I congratulate you on your past successes and look forward to hearing more of your future accomplishments! =)
Welcome! I started gaining when I met my boyfriend (now husband) 22 years ago. It took me about 18 of those years to figure out that I would have to eat for my body. Enjoying all the snacks, treats and hefty portions...he has not gained an ounce. Interestingly, since I've committed to getting healthy he has, too.
