Default New to the forum; 60 pounds overweight and an emotional eater :-(

Hi guys!
I randomly found this community while looking up different dieting types and I was really impressed with the support and information. I'm excited to be here and able to communicate with you all!
I've steadily been gaining more and more weight since 10th grade high school. I started out at about 150 pounds, size 12 when I was 15, and have continued to go up and up and up weight-wise and size-wise. At age 22, I am now 218 pounds and a size 20. I am kind of disgusted with myself and I avoid looking in mirrors. I have PCOS which makes weight loss difficult anyways, but besides that I have low self esteem, negative thinking, and total emotional eating to deal with.
I live in Minnesota with my awesome boyfriend who I've been with 2.5 years. I love to be outside and road trips, also reading and being with family.
Just this past week I have started Herbalife's program of drinking their shakes and taking their supplements, and I have lost 6 pounds (was 225 last week). This weight loss seems unhealthy to me, and I have been struggling with wanting to eat emotionally and from stress, and wanting to eat "bad" things. I am really interested in doing Intuitive Eating and learning how to eat well and without shame or emotionally, because I do like food and I don't want to cut myself off from it completely. I'm just feeling a bit frustrated and overwhelmed. Also unsure about Herbalife and overall wanting a place to chat and get support and of course give support!

Hey Ashley!

Welcome to 3FC!

Your situation is pretty much the same as mine! Sounds like your taking steps in the right direction!

What's Intuitive eating? Sounds interesting!

Good luck!!!

Smile hi i'm new too

hi ashley,
i'm only 1 inch taller and 1 pound heavier than you, so pretty much the same! I'm very much an emotional eater, (was always the girl who split up with her boyfriend and put on tons of weight whereas other girls would drop a couple of dress sizes!!!) i found this forum yesterday like you. I have tried different fad diets and weightwatchers but never stuck to anything. I don't really go out socially unless i HAVE to, i hate shopping for clothes which i used to love and then turn to food for comfort when i'm feeling low! Its a vicous cycle which i am determined to break! I would like to lose 100lb but i thought this was over ambitious so i have set it at 90lb, which would bring me well out of the obese and overweight categorys. last week i decided enough is enough and began to walk 3 miles per day every morning for 5 mornings a week and i'm feeling so motivated now. i have lost a few pounds but i'm going to ofiicially wiegh myself every monday so i'm not sure yet!
I think 7 pounds is ok to lose the first week of a diet because you lose a lot of water. but after the first 2-3 weeks it will decline ( so i've been told). I can't wait to be able to make my ticker to show my progress hopefully this will really motivate me to lose more. Best of luck with your weight loss, i know its going to be a long road, but i'm sure it will be so worth it in the end.

Hi Ashley, we have a few things in common; I am an overweight, binge eater with PCOS.

Good luck with your journey.

Hi Ashley and welcome. You'll find that there are many of us who are emotional eaters...I have been trying to break the cycle but it has been difficult and each day is such a battle. I know of a one coworker who did the herbalife program and lost a lot of weight. I have not seen her in a while so I don't know if she has been able to maintain the wgt. loss. 7 lbs in the first week is not unusual...you're wgt loss will stabilize over the next few
weeks. Good luck with your journey.
