Default Hi from Roadbikerchick - most of the way there

Hi, I'm new here and want to introduce myself. I've struggled with weight problems since my mid-teens, and I'm in my 50s now...but I'm most of the way down now. I'm 5' 6", and in 2008 I weighed in at 188. I cried!...and then I took action. It's gone really slowly, but I'm down to 144 now, and I'd like to get to 135. Along the way down, I picked up the hobby of road cycling, and I *love* it. Two and a half years ago, I never thought I'd get to this weight. I only hoped I could lose ten pounds. With the help of a wonderful, supportive weight coach, and all kinds of tips and advice, I finally got this far.

These last 10 pounds are tough ones, though. That's why I'm here. Together we can do this!!!

Welcome! our stats are identical, and I'm in the same place you are! Weighed in at 145 this morning and am READY to be done with this. Are you planning any changes to your routine for the "last 10?" I've changed up my cardio a bit (I'm a runner) and started measuring foods more frequently. Any tips you find along the way I'd love to know.

Congratulations on your progress!

Welcome Roadbiker, Glad to have you join us. My advice is to look for a Support group, Chat, or Challange to join; small groups make it easier to get connected. Most sub-forums have groups covering almost every need, find one that inspires or motivates you and just post to join. You might try the 50-somethings or the Featherweights for a start.

Thanks to both of you. The biggest thing I've learned over my weight loss journey is to track what I'm eating, and also to get support. I mentioned a wieght loss coach in my initial post. I found the accountability to that person really helped start my motivation, but, quite frankly, he cost a fair bit of money (great guy just the same...). I'm hoping to build in the accountability bit through the forums here.

I'm trying to build more endurance bike rides in, Tapaslover, but where I live, that means longer hours on an indoor trainer. Would love to fit in a visit to South Carolina for bike vacation...

My daughter is working out to the Insanity DVDs from Beachbody.com. Maybe I'll give those a try.

Congratulations on your progress, Tapaslover!
