resolved to lose 60 lbs in 2011, here for comraderie!
Hello, all! Years ago I used this site to get a little help with some weight loss. After that, I went through law school and became 1) sedentary, and 2) a wine appreciator! Now that I'm an attorney, and 30 lbs larger, I have a little more time, and a LOT more drive, to take control of my weight and my happiness.
I have the most trouble winding down at night. I am very good about food (I'm a calorie counter, with protein and veggie tentancies), but after 2-3 glasses of wine at night for 3 years, the sugars have done a number to my butt. I have started drinking "Mocktails" (I love me some perrier and lime!), and I have started a journal, tracking my daily food and exercise, with a list of various ways to calm me down/get my mood in check. The biggest thing I need is some folks to help me through the difficult (but rewarding) months ahead, and to help me find my daily focus and inspiration. I know there are a lot of successful, wonderful, and inspired people on this site, and I look forward to browsing your posts and blogs. I am setting up a blog, with the same name as my login for the forum (jessandemma2011), and I look forward to helping others, and myself, through a healthier and thinner 2011. Cheers to us all, -J&E;) |
Hello :) Drinking has always been a control issue for me. Not actually drinking, but controlling what went in my mouth after a couple of drinks. I love wine -- and as you said -- I crave sweets after a few glasses. You're headed in the right direction and I wish you the best of luck~

Thanks so much, Martha! I wish you the best as well. One day at a time!

Hey there, and :wel3fc:
It was important for me to realize that while I could have the things I loved (you have wine, I have cupcakes) sometimes, my body deserved to be fueled with healthier choices most of the time. You don't have to give it up forever, just recognize that there are limits. We have tons of areas you might want to check out...the 30-somethings, for example, or any of our forums by eating plan. You probably already know your way around from your previous foray into 3FC, so just jump back into posting. Can't wait to get to know you better! |
Hi, I'm new too and have 59 more pounds to lose. I've already lost a total of 22 lbs, 16 with slim4life and 6 prior to starting with them. I am bound and determined to do this and wish you luck in doing the same. I too love wine and have totally weaned myself off until I get this ton of weight off. Have a great evening. :)

um *feels dumb* I didn't think wine was a no-no!! Thank goodness you posted this. J&E I am totally with you on getting fit for 2011 and inspiring others and coming to this forum was the best thing that we could have done. So many people who are reaching their goals or have met them and it is completely inspiring. Good luck on your journey!

Hi Bad BBW! Wine is only a "no-no" depending on what your weight loss plan is! As I am a calorie counter, wine has about 100 calories a glass, a ton of sugar, the calories are consumed right before bed, and the calories are not particularly useful for your body. I'm not cutting out alcohol all together, but I'm certainly cutting way down. Whatever you do on your journey, just make sure you are being reasonable! :)

Welcome and good luck!
