Hello =)

Hello!

My name is Jenn and I am a 20 year old college student. I weigh about 285 lbs and am 5'5. I have been overweight for most of my life, but have gained over 60 lbs in the past 2 years. Whenever I try a diet, I get too confused (do I count calories, not count calories, count carbs, not eat any carbs, etc.) and am at a point where I do not know what to do anymore. I have joined a gym (still haven't gone yet, of course) and am DYING to start a diet/workout routine, but just don't know where to start.

My family is full of overly skinny women and weight loss related support is definitely not their forte...so I am so glad I came across this forum and look forward to learning more about you all, and about myself, on this crazy adventure that I (have yet) to start. :?:

Hi Jenn! Welcome. . . you have come to the right place! I have been counting calories (1200 a day) and walking on the treadmill. There are tons of success stories on here that you can read and everyone is open about how they are losing the weight. Look around and pick one that works for you and you will see results! Good luck!!!

So glad you made it here. You may want to start with your doctor. Maybe your doctor would have suggestions. When I went to my doctor he gave me great advice and really motivated me... this is where I started:

-no more bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, refined sugar
-exercise 1 hour and burn at least 500 calories.
-he gave me a nutritional supplement called Slim to drink

Anyway- this stuff has really worked. I hope I can help you. I am not always on the right path with my weight loss- but, right now I am doing pretty good.

Thank you all! Good luck to you all as well!

If any of you have advice on using the forum, I'd greatly appreciate it! Did it take you all so long to get the hang of it? LOL
