Newbie/40 pounds down and book suggestions?

  • Hi,
I am a new member as of today! My name is Tess and I am about 1/3rd of my weight loss journey. I am a 23 year old female. I have lost 40 pounds since September of last year. I started my journey with Weight Watchers. I stopped doing WW due to financial issues, but plan to start back up soon. My significant other and I cannot wait to start our healthy lives together. We want to have as much time on this earth together as possible. I cannot wait to be able to post goal photos of myself on here! I've already posted on the mini-goals thread, but thought I would show you the same photos in this one to make it more interesting.

Also, does anyone have any great book suggestions for women? I'm currently reading The Jean Nidetch Story and I just bought Jemima J after a friend suggested it to me. Anyone know of any other good motivating books written for or about females? I need some good role models!

  • Bossypants, by Tina Fey - as an added bonus, you'll burn a lot of calories by laughing.

And you are looking great, by the way. In the past few days, with folks who've gone from above 250 to below 250 and have lost more than 30 pounds, you start to look like a totally different person - especially in the face. I can't wait to get there myself!
  • You are looking fantastic! Amazing job so far and good luck in your journey!
  • Hi Tess! Congratulations on your success, you look fantastic! I love what you said about wanting to spend as much time as possible on this earth with your significant other.... that's how my boyfriend and I feel, we are in our 40s and only met three years ago, so we are on this journey to get healthy so we can have as much time together as we can. Good for you, starting this while you are young!

I'm glad you asked about books, I will be checking back to see what other people recommend! I've heard good things about Valerie Bertinelli's book "Losing It"... it's the next one on my list to read.
  • Wow, you're doing awesome! I can't recommend any books, but I just wanted to welcome you.
  • Thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone! It's super encouraging!
