Smile Hello y'all! Newbie here! :)

Hey y'all! I'm Lindsey. I'm totally new to this site...kind of stumbled upon it! Glad I did. I have read so many of the success stories and I think it's so great you share it and keep each other going, so here I am...decided to join!

I started my journey just last week. 9/22/10 to be exact. So far -2 pounds...not too shabby and -1" on my waist! I've been on diets before. I'm the typical yo-yo dieter I suppose, lose a few here and there, gain it back and so on. I am just SO beyond fed up with feeling like crap when I look in the mirror and seeing pictures of me a few years back thinking "I wish I was that small again!" I happen to gain most of my weight in my tummy so I get asked "when are you due?" from time to time and just about want to die of embarrassment when I have to say "I'm not pregnant!" After doing some reading online and seeing that at the weight I'm at now and my waist size my health risks are significantly increased scared me and I'm determined to lose 40 pounds!!!! I won't accept anything less than 100% effort from myself during this journey!

So what's my plan?
Diet: 1200 calories per day. NO soda! Vitamins. Lots of water.
Exercise: 30 minutes of walking (good pace) or cardio 5 times per week. Pilates for 20-30 minutes 5 times per week.

Mini Goals:
-10 pounds Reward: Dinner date with my hubby
-20 pounds (by Christmas hopefully!) Reward: New haircut
-30 pounds Reward: Tattoo I've been wanting
-40 pounds Reward: Shopping spree! New wardrobe!

Hey there Lindsey -

Sounds like you have a really solid plan in place, which is great. We have a lot of forums you might want to check out - Calorie Counters, and various forums by age range, lots of miscellaneous challenges, an exercise forum...so look around, find a spot or several to jump into, and get to posting.

I can't wait to get to know you better!

Oh, an update! Today is my week 1 weigh in and the start of my week 2.

-2.4 pounds
-2" on my waist! *jumps for joy!*
-5.25" total lost in one week!

Stuck to the diet pretty good, although one day I had a slice of pizza, but I got my booty out walking to help burn off some of the extra calories.

This week's goal is to stick to the diet, and do more pilates which I'm in love with! My goal is to be 170 next week or less.

Hi!

Fellow newbie here also! I started counting weight watchers points about a month ago and I have lost 11 pounds to date. I joined 3fatchicks because I'd like to have a support system and I know everyone on here is undergoing the same transformations and feelings. I have never dieted before and my weight jumped sixty pounds in the last two years. I relate to your post because I have most of my fat around my mid section, so I tend to also look pregnant.

I will tell you that when I got over 200 I encountered health problems that I never thought I would see at 29 years of age. I have sleep apnea, (I have to wear a giant sleep mask that keeps my throat open at night), I don't ovulate anymore, I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I am insulin resistant. Three years ago at 165 pounds, I did not have these problems.

So, keep up with your plan and make sure it is reasonable and you aren't starving yourself because you will be less likely to maintain the loss. 1200 calories seems a bit low?

Thanks for responding everyone!
Thereisnooption:
Congrats on the loss! You think 1200 is too low? Hmm...I dunno how I came up with that number, I just did. Maybe I'll re-think it.
