Hi Everyone!
My name is Heather and this is my first time
really dieting in my life, even after having 2 kids. I'm 27, and for most of my life I've eaten whatever I wanted and never gained weight and stayed around 125-130lbs. In the past year, I've went up from a size 7 to a size 11-13 and I stepped on a scale a few weeks ago and I was just under 150lbs. To some people, that's a great weight. For me, at 5'3", I can actually see myself getting bigger. My tipping point occurred at work last week when a co-worker (who obviously has no tact) asked me if I was pregnant. I told her I wasn't and she said "well you're looking mighty thick in the waist then". As rude as it was, she was right. I've started developing a "muffin top", my jeans are uncomfortably tight, I can't wear a skirt without shorts because my thighs rub together and all of my shirts are too tight. Thankfully, my husband is dieting with me. He, realistically, needs to drop 75+ lbs, so this is good for both of us. We started taking the low-carb approach 1 week ago. I'm struggling because I'm such a picky eater (despite many efforts, I can't bring myself to eat any raw veggies), but I'm hanging in there.
I'm looking forward to the support and camaraderie I know I'll find here.
