Default Panic Button Landed Me Here...

Hi all,
I've been searching for answers for too long. I have said this before but this time it's different...200 lbs are just around the corner and I can't let myself get there.

I've gained 65 lbs in three years.

I haven't figured out how to manage my life and lose weight....three years ago, many things changed, including my work circumstances and husband's health. So here I am, miserable and trying to find a way out.

I am a major binge eater. That's why I've gained the weight. I have occasional bouts of exercise, but nothing consistent. When I'm fit, I like to run, but it's no fun to be an overweight runner. It hurts too much.

I've resorted to hiding and avoiding life. I'm hoping to find some inspiration here, and also offer some as I build my own strength.

Hello, Portia, and welcome! I am glad you are joining us. Many people here struggle with issues related to binge eating (see the "Chicks in Control" part of the forum). I think 3FC is a great source of advice and support, and I hope you will, too.

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey!

Cheers,

J

Portia welcome to the boards!
This place is great source of information, support and inspiration for weight loss. One of the most motivating things for me was looking at the pictures in the goal section. Welcome and good luck.

Portia,
I can relate to your words about changing work circumstances and your husband's health as I have been greatly affected by both as well. In fact, I am sure many of us on 3FC can relate. You CAN learn how to "control your life" and your eating. It is a process and you will find much help here on 3FC.
Welcome and good luck in all your goals. Don't be shy about posting. It will help you learn.

Thank you for the kind welcomes. I will explore the Chicks in Control area. I know I need to take things one step at a time, but like many people, I'm impatient and want this weight off NOW. I have a hard time feeling good even if I'm making good choices. I am so ashamed and embarrassed about my weight gain. It seems like such a long haul and I'm not sure how to stay motivated. I hope I can find that motivation here!

Hi,

I too have put on a lot of weight... it seemed to be half a stone per year or so... and now I'm 6 stones (84) heavier than I was 8 years ago. I know our bodies change as we get older but for me, 6 stone is just too much and I'm determined to shift it. I realise that exercise will play an important part in that, but, like you... it is uncomfortable/difficult to do when you are heavier... I love swimming but won't put a swimming costume on while I'm feeling insecure about my weight, I also enjoy riding my bike but don't want to be seen in daylight hours incase people think... 'Look at her fat backside on that saddle!)... so... I'd like to shift a little bit of the weight first and then start going out for evening walks/bike rides say about 9pm ish when it's quieter... not so hot and hopefully my boyfriend will come with me. Hope it all works out for you )
