Re-introduction, feeling low

  • Hi Ladies!

Its been awhile since I've been on this site. I just feel like I'm at an all-time low in my life - regarding my health -- not my weight which is at its highest (non-pregnancy) weight ever. I have no energy. zero. My clothes are too tight. I need to lose at least 70 pounds. A loss of 85 pounds would be ideal (I know that weight fits me well).

I had my second son in August 2009. I actually lost the pregnancy weight right away. But since then, I've gained about 10 pounds. I kept telling myself I would start managing my diet and exercise better once the baby started sleeping through the night. Well, I think we're finally to that point (for the most part).

Close to 10 years ago, I lost 60 pounds on WW (in over a year). I slowly gained it all back and them some. Over the years, I've tried to re-join WW, but I just don't think I can do it this time. My DH just recently lost around 70 lbs (in like 4 months!) on Medifast. He recommends it to me (but doesn't push). However, about 2 years ago he lost maybe 40 lbs on Nutrisystem and gained it all back. (He recommended that to me too.) I'm tempted by those types of programs - as a way to start seeing results fast and getting me started. But, I don't know if they are a long-term solution for me.

A couple of months ago, I bought the Beck Diet Solution (audio book and workbook) and the Mediterranean Diet book. I like that the Beck Diet addresses the mental aspect of eating and Mediterranean Diet seems healthy and reasonable. But, I have yet to really even crack open those books. (I started making my list for Beck but now I don't know where my list is. How awful is that!)

I dunno what I'm looking for here. I think I'm feeling lost and overwhelmed and I still have no energy or focus. I think it will help just to 'hang out' on these boards more often. Because so many of us are in the same boat even though we may feel alone and we try to hide.

I'll gladly take any words of encouragement. Thank you!
  • Hi Maureen! Congratulations on your new son! And congratulations on him sleeping through the night. I'm still working on that with my 2 year old :/ I think in some ways post pregnancy is a bigger risk for weight gain than during pregnancy. When you're still pregnant your schedule is your own, but a new baby throws everything into the wind. They need what they need when they need it, regardless of your needs for sleep, exercise, etc. It's doable, though, and starting to exercise again will give you energy and help you feel less overwhelmed. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.
  • Welcome!
