Default What diet? Join me in my secret adventure;)

Hi everyone, this is my first post ever. I just found this site and thought that this was a very positive and supportive community. I am starting this new "adventure" and hopefully this new lifestyle to become healthy. A little about me, I am a 32 year old single mom of 3 kids. I am 5 feet tall and weigh about 225 pounds. (that weight is not official yet In the past 4 months I have been in and out of the emergency room 6 times and I know it is connected to my weight. I need to lose weight so I can be around for my kids for plenty of years. However I need to do this all in secrecy. I have absolutely no support and been ridiculed and made fun off every time I tried to lose weight. I want to be accountable and I will be giving updates everyday and will weigh myself once a week. I plan on doing something similar to Atkins, except for baked and low-fat options. If you guys have any advice or just want to join along, please feel free to follow me.

Hi, welcome!!

Sorry to hear you have no support, people shouldn't ridicule you! They should be proud of you for wanting to become healthy! You'll show them though Trust me, you'll find lots of support here. I haven't been here long but that is one thing I can definitely say about 3FC!

Good luck with your adventure!

The forums are awesome and the goal stories/photos are super inspiring! I also take advantage of the blog 3fc offers. Great place to sound off, get your thoughts out. Also great for holding you accountable if you also use it as a food journal. Just a thought. It helps me, maybe it can help you. And who the heck is ridiculing you for wanting to be healthy? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Ignore them. I can safely assume, whoever they are, that they're not very bright.....

Hi there! I'm new here too but the forums seem to be incredibly supportive, and I know you'll find the encouragement you deserve here . I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles and so glad you are going to be working to feel better.

Hi Dmax.

I'm new here myself but I think that we shall find the support we both need at this site. I am also sorry to read that you have no support system. I think it's deplorable that people ridicule others who are trying to better themselves.

Good luck to you and take care.

Deb

Thank you everyone for your kind words of support. I went to the doctors office today and officially weigh 220 pounds. I am new to posting and being on a forum so bare with me while I figure out how to set up a blog and all the other cool features you guys all have set up.

Well I guess I am doing my version of an "Atkins diet". As far as home cooked meals, I am replacing rice w/ a some sort of green veggies. Rice is my main staple, so that is going to be my main challenge. And everything else IOf course no more fast food, which will be good for me and my kids health. And no more sweets. I have stopped eating after 7pm as well. i also started walking today for about 45 mins. I was exhausted but I had to start somewhere.

Man! I never realized how positive and energized just reading these posts make me. Thanks guys for the motivation(you didn't even know it LOL). I was really feeling down about it all but I dusted off the old fitday account and MAN has it been radically updated since 2006 LOL and I have idea of how to modify my diet.
