Day 1 of Ideal Protein Diet!

Hi All, Im hoping to make some new friends here, as I have started the ideal protein diet today with hopes of losing 32 pounds by July 1st. Im hoping there are others out there on the diet that can become email buddies with me and share ideas and moral support to keep going till i reach my goal weight, and that I might be able to support you also...

Slimmity Slim 04-05-2010 09:54 AM

I am on day 12 and down 5 lbs. Not bad for a start. Something I learned this past weekend. .... be careful with medicines. I came down with a nasty cold and took Robitussin and Nyquil - both contain high fructose corn syrup and messed up my ketones. Oddly you never know where you might find this stuff so watch all labels.

Fat to thin 2010 04-05-2010 02:24 PM

My first day on Ideal Protein

I started Ideal Protein today as well. I have been reading through all of the threads and I am very excited. I have food sensitivities to wheat, yeast and eggs, so my choices of product are slim. I dropped 68 pounds by going raw vegan. When I started back to school in January, I chose easy over healthy. Once I went back to eating cooked, processed and animal based foods I QUICKLY put on 30 to 35 pounds. I also noticed all my bad food cravings returned as well.

My pancreas needs a good rest and hopefully will have "reset" by the time I get down to my goal weight. If I have to put pounds as the goal, then 100 lost would be wonderful. My true goal though is to be happy, healthy, fit and comfortable...no matter what the scale says.

I am not personally looking for a buddy as I am already over committed with school, work and family that it would not be fair to the other person. That being said, I am looking forward to following your results, and the results of others when I can! We can do this!

Dana

Hi Dana,
Can I just say one thing to you... You need to be committed to you! Your more important than anything or anyone else right now, unless you have a dieing family member, and we will help you to see that your more important than anything else... hugs

Northstar you are so sweet. I couldn't agree with you more. When I stated I was over committed, I meant that my focus, being a 40 something going back to school, has to be on myself and it wouldn't be fair to someone else if I didn't have the extra time because of my schedule to be a full time buddy. Obviously work is mandatory and it isn't that I have a lot of family demands. I already put housework off as much as possible and would really benefit by having a drag net behind me. LOL Actually, it is just me and my wonderful and supportive life partner of 6 1/2 years. He is also in school so what little time we do have it is precious and we are selfish with it.

As much as I want to stop, read, post, etc., I know my time will be limited and I wanted to make sure that I didn't set any misleading expectations.

That being said, thank you for being so supportive. I look forward to checking in from time to time and being one of the Fabulous 4/5/10 IP group!! I am so looking forward to seeing the progress.

HUGS!!!!

Wow..your dinner sounds DELISH! I am having heavily seasoned ground turkey with steamed veggies. It is easy. I was ravished by dinner time last night. Didn't like that at all. I weigh at home daily. I found that was the only way I could stay on track...for me it works. I was down a pound. My first official weigh in is 4/16.

Today I managed to shake my shaker full of mushroom soup without the lid secure. Can you say YUCK! I guess you have to be smarter than a piece of plastic. The stuff is too precious to waste like that. It is literally like gold.

Woohoo and congrats on your birthday! 5 pounds lost is a (pardon the expression) piece of (birthday) cake Northstar!! The only thing I have coming up is next years 25th high school reunion. Oh joy. Hahahaha.

Ok...got to run. Have to study for a test. Congratulations on your success.

Inspirational quote for today, I hope your all having a wonderful day today!

You never know until you try.
And you never try unless you really try.
You give it your best shot; you do the best you can.
And if you have done everything in your power,
And still fail--the truth of the matter is that you haven't failed at all.
When you reach for your dreams, no matter what they may be, You grow from the reaching;
You LEARN from the TRYING; you WIN from the DOING."

Happy Saturday everyone, even though i work today lol I finally got past the 140 mark last night, I can honestly say I have been starving on this diet, and my eyes have been very blurry but im hoping that its because my system is getting straigtened out. My ketostix turned purple yesterday which is a good sign that means Im burning fat now... hows everyone doing? kinda quiet , hope you all have a great day today ...

Raisingthebar 04-10-2010 03:55 PM

Hi All!!
I too am doing the IP diet and I am seeing amazing results. With my first month done I am down 19lbs. It does get easier as the weeks fly by (and yes...they fly by quickly!!!)
What does every think about their "coach" ..mine seems to be very little help, ..but I have learnt quite abit on here in other forums.

Heres to being a "loser"
Cheers

northstar1959 04-10-2010 04:10 PM

Welcome to your group Raising the Bar, where bouts you at in alberta? maybe we can help each other more if we are closer...i love your weight bar, can you help me get one too? I have a wedding May 29 and want to be down 30 lbs. It looks like your doing very well... I just started this past monday and Im down 3 lbs I havent but seen my coach but once and wont see her till wed as im in a different town...

Raisingthebar 04-11-2010 11:32 AM

Good Morning Northstar,
I am in Edmonton, so there is some miles between us.

As far as the weight bar goes, if you click on "quick links" and then "sig weight tracker" you can create the tracking bar, after that you will have to copy and paste a code under where you edit your signature. ( I hope that makes sense as I am not very good with the comp...)

I lost 10lbs my first week, by just sticking to the program. My first few weeks were pretty tough, I was tired and my legs felt pretty weak. Just keep on doing the program and eating all your lettuce and veg, don't forget the salt and oil. You will do great and knock them out at the wedding!!!

:dancer::cheer2:

northstar1959 04-11-2010 11:53 AM

Good Morning Raising the Bar,
My daughter helped me with the sig weight tracker but apparently you cant have your signature for 20 days after you sign up with the website, so as soon as my 20 days are done I will... I go up to Edmonton to see my boyfriend so one day while hes studying we should meet for a coffee, ok... if you want... Im down another lb today, i found this week to be tough, I bumped up my food a bit and started losing weight... I see your the same height as me, and want to weigh 140 I am ok at that, but really like weighing between 125-118 thats where i feel my best. I actually started this at 143.6 but didnt join till a day later so Im down to 138.2 today and still have today for my week, so will see what I weigh tomorrow.
I will wait one more week to start my treadmill again and weights, as I just finished my basement and my equipment has been parked in the garage for 2 months since I moved here. lol
I love your weight bar with the happy bumble bee lol
I need to remember my oil i forget it alot, so maybe put it on the counter so as to remember to take it every single day!
Well today is my birthday and I have friends coming to take me to lunch, I hope you have a great day today! Keep me posted ok on your weight lose and life... hugs me

I wanna be the 5th fat chick!

Hello Northstar, I just saw that you are on day 1 as well. I think it's going to be a huge change from the carbfest I've been having for the last year! I want to lose 20 pounds before July long weekend and I will do it! I see you're from AB. I'm from MB and it's nice to see another Canadian on here. I spent the spring break out at Kananaskis with my kids. Man, you have a beautiful province. I've never been on a forum, so it will take me a while to figure this out. You're going to be a hot mother of the groom...:carrot:
Good luck,
Kramer

Raisingthebar 04-13-2010 03:52 PM

Welcome aboard Kramer and Palm Beacher!!! You will find plenty of inspiration within this site!! Measure your vegis and try to plan ahead for your meals. You will do great! :broc:

PalmBeacher10 04-14-2010 10:22 AM

Hello everyone. The weather in Palm Beach is warm.. Which is good, but not so good if you want to wear a bathing suit. I don't right now, but my goal is to be okay with it by July. Does anyone have some good recipes? I love my veggies, but only week 2.:carrot:

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!!

Michelle:cool:

3kidsandadog 04-14-2010 04:39 PM

hi i am also starting IP. I went to my meeting this morning to purchase what I needed. I am 44. Since I hit the big 40, i have put on 10 lbs that refuses to come off no matter what I do. I have a friend who is also on this and has lost 9 lbs her first week but even better 7 inches, which i find amazing. I'm thinking since I am a diet coke-aholic this will be my "hard part" as well as my occasional margarita...I hope to get to know you all on here and wish the best of luck to all who have taken the first step in the right direction.:D

Hey Northstar,
the weather here is just as confused as it appears to be out your way. Today we had rain all day, but then it snowed for about 10 minutes. Go figure. I'm on day two. I've had massive headaches for both of these days, but I think it might just be the sugar and carb withdrawl. Good for you losing your first 5 pounds.

Welcome, and best of luck.. I have a bit more to lose than you but nonetheless.. it is all goal oriented. You should be able to lose your weight very quickly I lost 10 pounds in my first 10 days...

Michelle:)

Barbiegirl 04-15-2010 09:32 PM

Hi everyone,
I just started IP on 4-10-10. My first weigh-in is tomorrow. I have not cheated once and hope the scale reflects that! I have a scale at home but I told myself I would not step on in the 1st week!! I also started my dang period today (sorry) so I hope I still have a decent loss. I am looking forward to following everyone's progress and hope we can help each other out.

skinnymeup 04-16-2010 12:53 AM

hi! I started my diet 2 weeks ago.... the first week i lost 7.4 and the second week i lose 1.4- i couldnt figure out what was going on! WELL, I came to find out you CANT eat yellow squash in phase one, thats why i didnt loose so much the second week! I lost inches, but not lbs! I was devistated! stupid squash! Just figured i would share that with you ladies cause it REALLY matters! but i wanted to say GOOD LUCK! also- i have a question... what do you do if your REALLY hungry at like 11PM? this happened to me and i just drank a crystal light drink and it filled me up! any other suggestions?

showgirlaz 04-16-2010 02:01 AM

HI Fellow IPers!

Come over to the carb counters forum and find many more of us at the other reduced carb link! We have recipes, tips and lots of support!

Skinnymeup: Regarding the yellow squash, It shouldn't have effected you, according to the regional director I spoke with, there are too many veggies to put on the sheet they hand out and, if it is a same nutritional impact and glycemic impact and carb level as zuchinni... IT WORKS! :) The first three weeks are always different but, don't be afraid to try it again in the near future. I am now on my 5th month, I have lost 75 pounds and regularly eat the yellow squash.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/othe...arb-diets-227/

The above link will take you to our IP subforum page and threads. You will find recipes, IP nutritional info, frequently asked questions, lots of people and support, and more!

my first day

Today was my first day of IP. I went to bed at 8:30pm, because I was starving, then was woken up because of a knock on my door. Now I'm awake and still starving. I have a headache...but I am going to press forward and stick to my committment to NO CHEATING. Good night all. oh this is also my very first time trying to blog or whatever this is. ;)
